Selling a converted cargo trailer

Postby jwhite » Tue Oct 16, 2012 1:53 pm

Has anyone sold or bought a converted cargo trailer? I am just wondering if they are hard to sell?
I would hate to sell the one I built just because I am attached to it,but I have found one that is larger and I think I may want a larger one but this other one has so many more things on it that mine does not have.
I am going to call the guy and maybe look at it but I don't need 2 so I would need to sell mine if I decide to buy it,I think it's been for sale for a while so that could be a bad sign if he hasn't sold it by now?
He could just want to much for it and is holding out and I couldn't blame him I think I would do the same.

I've seen a few around here go with a couple of weeks. It's certainly a nitch market, but Craigslist is perfect for nitch markets.

I sold my first one pretty easily.. Got a little less then I wanted but I still ended up breaking even cost wise. They got my labor for building it for free :( But really I think a lot of it comes down to the trailer. Most all the trailers on here seem pretty well thought out and put together, But I've seen a lot in person that honestly I dont' think you could give them to me.. Not saying yours isn't done right. Just saying anyone that is looking for one has probably seen some pretty bad ones already so they might need some convincing that yours isn't a throw together..

I have been looking on craigslist and ebay for a used motorhome and I found this.

20 FT., DOUBLE AXLE. ALL 4 TIRES ARE IN GOOD SHAPE, FULLY CONTAINED (GRAY WATER, BLACK WATER, FRESH WATER TANKS), 18 FT. AWNING, TOILET, SHOWER, SINK, HOT WATER HEATER, REFRIGERATOR, MICROWAVE, ELECT AND MANUAL HITCH JACK, ROOF AC, COLD AIR!!!, MOTORCYCLE TIE DOWNS, DROP DOWN BACK RAMP, MANUAL LEAVELING JACKS, NO LEAKS. FULLY INSULATED.
he's asking 7.500

My trailer is fine but it dosen't have all the things this trailer has and I think I would rather have something like this one that is closer to a regular toyhauler.
For some reason I keep thinking that a good used motorhome that I could pull the trailer I have is what I need,I think part of my reasoning is that I am running a business and on the weekends I could use the motorhome to live in and work in the trailer while I am out traveling and I wouldn't have to come home to work I could do it in the trailer.
But working and living in a 16ft trailer would get old fast, I may find that living in a motorhome and working in a trailer will get old fast also.
Last weekend I looked at and drove a used motorhome and it drove better than I thought, it would get about the same MPG as with the suburban and trailer I have now, and I would have twice the space.
