Chas,
Well, yes I suppose that would be the result. That is... if we were really stupid. Then we would erect the shower right next to our camper entrance, use dozens of gallons of water, we would be sure to camp only on loose dirt, and use the most harsh soap/shampoo we could find, then track mud all over the rig.
In the event, we are not really stupid. The shower has a floor and we place shower clogs just outside to step into. We place the shower several feet from our rig, we use a biodegradable soap/shampoo (Wilderness Wash) and have found a good shower can easily be had with less than 2 gallons of water. We generally camp in the desert (i.e. hot climate, fast evaporation) in primitive locations which also lends itself well to this setup.

It's not that hard to make a temporary outside shower. all you need is something again to a small pallet and some sort of suspension for a shower curtain. Two gallons seems like a lot when you're camping unless you have a water source. Where we usually camp.. we have water and power sources but are sometimes too far from the toilet/shower. I've been using a privacy shelter for that. no bottom on it.. and cedar slat pallet. often the campsites are paved for the RV campers and graveled nearby. I usually place the privacy shelter on that gravel just in case I need to shower in it. I've not had to do it often but it comes in handy just in case. usually the portapotty goes in it for sure.

I use a solar shower. I stand in large storage container and use a shower curtain
to catch the over spray. When I'm done I store it all away. I don't like the idea of
a permanent shower that takes up space. I'm 6'2" 220 lbs. I have a 7x12 enclosed trailer.
You might try it. The investment is minumal and you can always put the shower in later.
Oh ya...I heat up a pot of water on the stove if I need to warm the shower up.
Keep it simple.
See ya out there Rando

My sister and I have created the best shower situation for us.
We set up as vendors at various barrel races and most facilities have showers but not enough privacy or you have to wait in line.
We both have our cargo trailer rigged out to live in while at events.
Our showers or "redneck showers" as we refer to them
We mounted 3 cup hooks to the ceiling to hold a hoola hoop
We then hang our shower curtains on the hoola hoop
Sis stands in a #3 wash tub while I use a shallow heavy duty pan I purchased from Tractor Supply
We have shelves mounted on the walls just below the ceiling to hold a Water Container.
We both use the 2 1/2 gallon water containers with spigots that u can get at WalMart
We removed the spigot and replaced it with a kitchen sink spray nozzel
We heat our water in a coffee pot
With the water container up on the shelf gravity lets the water flow perfect. With the spray nozzel we do not have to reach out and turn water on and off, When we release the sprayer the water stops.
When finished we just pour the water outside.
Our showers work awesome for us and we can now shower in the privacy of our trailers

I probably spent more than lil sis did on her shower as a new #3 wash tub around here can be quite expensive....guessing here I probably spent close to $70 on the whole set up, cheap on everything but the wash tub. I didn't go used as I didn't want the possibility of leaks. When not in use, the curtains swing around and fit up against the wall and my tub slides under the bed. Needless to say I love it and we get loads of hahaha's and :thumbsup:

In my first trailer I went with the wet room approach.. I had a toilet, small sink and a drain in the floor. The room was 100% covered with FRP. Its plastic sheeting you can get from any home improvement store.. Same stuff thats in gas station bathrooms. Although it worked very well and saved space. We did not like it because the trailer was only two rooms.. The wet room and the everything else room. Once you took a shower in there it was hard to get dressed with out getting your cloths wet.. It also ment if someone went to use the toilet right after a shower the seat and lid was wet.. I know your not talking full bathroom so those problems won't matter.

The shower in my current trailer is just a rv shower pan (24"x32" I think) and 3 walls that are lined with FRP. Then we have a toilet and closet.. So the space works like typical bathroom in a house.. Only difference is now there is no sink in the bathroom.. We have one sink and its in the kitchen area.. It saves space and we found in the first trailer one of us would need the sink often while the shower was being used or toilet.. So now with it in the other room solves that problem. I did still line the entire bathroom in FRP though just because it makes the room very easy to clean.

Some of the shower ideas are pretty creative. Both my trailers just had water tanks with an RV 12v pump just like in a regular camper.. Its really not that hard to do.. Or expensive for that matter.. The pump and the tank will cost you a 100 bucks.. I myself have to have a water heater cause we camp in the winter months also. But if you dont' need hot water its pretty cheap to setup a pump and shower head..

New bathroom

Course you can tell the new bathroom is a little bigger. New trailer is 7' wide and the bathroom is about 36" front to back.. The old trailer was only 6' wide and the bathroom only was about a 48"x36

Take a look at my pics, I purchased a complete fiberglass shower from lowes, it was a display model and they gave it to me for $120.00.

jahruan,
Great minds and all that... along with my 'tiny trailer' I have a 1946 22' Westwood Coronado that I have restored.

Note my "Lowes" fiberglass shower stall!

An addition to the lightweight shower curtain are these small clasps that I added every coupla feet on each side. Keeps that pesky curtain from flap'n around.

Ive toyed with the shower Idea over the years but still end us using a small or medium pot (or 2 ga bucket; outside to wash hair then go inside (or sometimes just a towel outside if I know Im alone) with a damp wash cloth.

The key is all in the pre shower prep; shampoo and soap out with towel at hand and warm water in front; and minimal use of soap; I use 1/4 the amout of shampoo; spread over hands then rubber into dry hair before any water is added; then start rinsing; it works amazingly well with little use of water staying warm with fleece on and waterproof shoes. Damp wash cloth as desired and rinse out well. I skip shaving while camping.

for a minimal interior shower; I like the large storage tub idea with shower curtin and pressure tank;

OH ive also used a hand pumped backpack sprayer filled with warm water; works very well; leave in sun to warm or add warm water.

Cheers BC Dave

I'd go to a sheet metal shop and have them make me a 3" deep "shower pan" of aluminum.
The labor would be less than the material and the material would probably be less than $100.00 depending on size.
Surround it with 2 x 4's glued on with epoxy.
The result is a home-like shower.

Your pump up solar shower is available custom built by R&L Flowmaster exclusively for Duckworks and the boat building crowd.

Howdy All;

I was thinking along the lines of this for my water supply;

http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/ ... pla&ci_kw={keyword}&gclid=CPSY6Z2dtrQCFcsWMgodeWwAOQ

Some folks use them on the backs of ATV's to spray stuff.
Thinking about changing the hose and sprayer out to something
else more utilitarian...

Do You by chance have a link or any more information on this product
