I made LED side marker lights.

thought I would throw up some pics of my LED side marker light project although this is not a homebuilt camper.

I bought some vintage style running lights from vintage trailer supply for about $6.99 each

I bought a 6 inch Flexible LED light string that is waterproof from ebay for $7.99

the lights were described as "15cm LED Strip 15 LEDs Rope Light Water Proof RED (About 6 Inches)"

I also bought a set of the clearance lights from vintage trailer supply to use.

this was stupid simple and worked great. I only needed a Phillips screwdriver.

here are the parts

I folded the light string into a deardrop shape, then tied the end with a piece of wire. (I actually used the wire that came with it that was used to secure the two leads into a loop for packing) I started with a twist tie just to see if it would work.

then i took the bulb out of the new light and cut out the wire, then laid the lights in the frame and used the hole in the bottom to run the wires through.

I then peeled the adhesive back off the light string since the grey tape was pretty visible through the red lens. it just made the lights more clean and not near as noticeable.

NOTE I was going to either wire or glue the lights inside the lense, however they fit just tight enough inside that after installing and shaking the light really hard the light string did not move inside AT ALL! so I dont see any need to attach them to the back part of the light fixture. they are solid inside as is.

I made some custom LED tail lights as well. so all my outside lights are LED and should last for ever.

Very cool. I may have to follow your lead.

Great idea! Just be careful about tail lights- the DOT has some very specific standards as to visibility, color and brightness and especially location for signal lights.
