How sad....I guess this is a sign of our times. :x Hope they didn't do too much damage other than the theft.

You have my sympathy and hopes the thieves are caught. Do you have insurance?
I can kind of see the value of the batteries to the thieves but how many pounds of copper at about a dollar per pound scrap, nuts!

Ogre Rv stands for off grid renewable energy RV

Sorry to hear of your problems, Off-grid. :(
Among other things, they should string these type of guys up by their little toes in the town sqaure, wearing nothing but their undies, and then flail them with witch brooms! :x

Pictures of your build are seemingly non-existent. Was your wiring enclosed in the walls and did the thieves leave a royal mess for you to fix?
This is one of the few times that you'll see me say that I hope your wiring was exposed (and therefore fairly easy to fix).

That sucks, but here's a trucking business story about a copper theif that will help you smile. I work for a flatbed carrier. We haul spools of copper wiring for both Southwire, and Okonite. One of our trucks was loaded with 4 spools of copper wire, and parked at a closed up truck stop while the driver was home for the weekend. A couple of excellent specimins of human intelligence noticed that the deck of our trailers has a bit of an arch to it, and decided they could steal all that valuable copper just by backing their pickup up to the back of our trailer, unchaining it, and getting a spool rolling. The spool weighed right at 9000 pounds, and dropped something like a foot and half into the truck bed. One of these highly intelligent specimins tried to "guide it down" and ended up with an arm pinned between the spool and what was left of the cab of the truck. I guess they didn't think through the fact that a ford F150 isn't the best choice for trying to move 4 and a half tons of copper. The police had no trouble catching them, since the crash and screaming attracted attention, and their get away vehicle didn't move so well any more :?

A couple of indigenous youth up north of here knocked off a car some years ago. They were caught by the local police and were tossed into the holding cells. Next day, all the elders and leaders of the tribe came to the jail and wanted their youth to face tribal law. After a long chat, the youth, laughing their bum off, were handed over to the elders of the tribe. They didn't laugh for long. They were taken to the main street, stripped totally naked and tied around a tree in the center of the road. They were left there for a while then things went from bad to really worse. All the old women came down the street and surrounded the naked youths. They each produced a length of hose and proceeded to flog the stuffing out of these two louts. The louts cried and begged for mercy but there was none. When the flogging was over, they were untied and left in a heap in the street. Justice had been served.
A week or two later, two more louts were caught with a stolen car. They begged and cried that they be subjected to white mans justice and not be returned to the tribe. I think the police had pity on them and they were given white mans justice. I never heard what happened to the original pair but I I think it would be a good bet that they never stole anything again for a long, long time.
:rofl2:
