Problems updating journal

Postby les45 » Sun Oct 21, 2012 9:13 pm

I tried to post an update to my journal today, but keep losing my draft when I go to copy my pics. In the past, I've gone from my draft to my photos (by way of the Gallery). I then copied my pic and returned to the update draft by using the left arrow. After pasting the photo and adding the "img" brackets I could submit the updated post. Now when I copy my pic and go back to my draft using the left arrows, the box is empty. Is this a change caused by the new server or am I doing something wrong?

Les -

I don't know if it is a software glitch but I recently lost a couple of posts just hitting the submit button.

When I add photos or urls I open those pages in a new separate window rather than switching back and forth from there to the draft post.

I also sometimes compose extended posts in MS Word, then spell check and save before copying and posting to the forum.

Thanks for that tip MC, I tried it and finally was able to update my journal. Actually that method was much easier and quicker than the way I was doing it in the past. I could keep my Forum pics open for copying and go back and forth to my Word draft by minimizing it. Great idea!

Hi les45,

After losing some posts I was composing,
especially those with links & pics, I wised
up, and now compose my posts in MS WordPad.
It saves a ton of aggravation and you can save
it as a WordPad file if you want to save it or need
to interrupt the posting process for some reason
and then go back to it or bring it up later. Its
especially helpful if you have a longer post.

I also use Google Chrome as my browser, and
it's very easy to open another tab with that, and
then bring up the forum again in that tab and use
it to bring your gallery up in that tab. Then it is much
easier to get pics from that to post. Just put them, and
any links, in the post as you're composing it in WordPad.
Once everything is to your satisfaction, you can then copy the
"finished" post from WordPad to your TnTTT posting
page. Once in the TnTTT posting page, I always preview it, and
usually find something to fix, normally a typo or spelling or
punctuation. Once all is 'good' I submit. If there's a problem
you always have the backup in the WordPad file.

I then either save or delete the posting composed on
WordPad depending what I want to do - once it is successfully
posted I must add.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo
