delay curcuit for turn signals

Hello all,
I have come up with an interesting idea for turn signals on the Command Post. I am going to use two of these: http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/id-bars/braketurn-light-bar-tlb-r11/1027/2482/ One on each side. They are actually meant for the back luggage trunk on a big touring motorcycle, so they are split in half, one side for each turn signal. The command post has a standard 4 wire trailer wiring harnass, so I'm thinking that if I could build a circuit with one input for the brake/turn wire, with two outputs with a half second delay on the second output, I could create a hillbilly version of the mustang sequential turn signals. Since there is no flasher in the curcuit I'm thinking of, it wouldn't mess with the brake light function.
Any idea on how to do that?

The problem I see is that the second light will hardly come on at all. The length of the turn signal from the TV probably isn't much longer than 1/2 second to start with. That said, a short delay could easily be added with a 555 timer circuit wired inline with the second light's input. Google 555 timer circuits and you'll find tons of plans.

Good point. I suppose I'd better figure out how long the turn signal interval is in the first place

Thinking about it I had a lot of thoughts.

First) It might look odd if all the lights aren't the same brightness.

Second) As been bought out, getting the timing right will be tricky.

The lights themselves are $60 then you have all the cost, time, and effort to build a 555 timer and a switching circuit that the timer controls. PITA.

Seems like all the hard work has been done for you and you could have THREE sequential lights. More cooler!

By the time the dust settles you'll have about the same invested but with far less hassle.
