On weight, my two winners weren't at max weight. They were both under 4.5oz.

I would maybe use weight as a class. One class would be the traditional 5 oz weight, maybe a heavyweight division of 9 or 10 oz max limit and then an Unlimited class. IMO that's really the only rule we need other than it's gotta fit on the track. Just food for thought and my 2 cents worth. Let's race!!!

I have a bunch of updates.

Firstly we will do some groupings. I think your ideas are good. If we have weight groups then people will be able to have multiple cars and race in different classes. so lets do a traditional 5oz. Lets also do a 5 - 10oz . And an unlimited. Maybe more as the need arises. The more rules the more management and I manage to much in my real life, so lets keep it simple and fun.

Here are two more tracks I have to varnish, for a total of three. I set one up yesterday and they are kind of short so It looks to me like we will do a two lane super long track.

Here is one of the prizes for the race. Its a 414 Dual Fuel. Its the same size as a 413 just more modern. This one was given to me. After I cleaned the bacon grease and dog hair off it seems to be a really solid unit.

People please clean your camp stoves. Man since I have gotten into this whole camp thing I have cleaned some really gross stoves. Bluuuuuck!
Repeat after me Trisodium Phosphate . It will clean the worst of the worst bacon disasters.

I thought since I had the tracks I would invite my family to have some races at upcoming family events. Suckers!

So I was trolling around and found this cool trophy for FREE. We are going to pass it around. Its a Major Award! And no I am not going to lug a trophy to the dam but if you people want to they are out there pretty cheap.

I'm really looking forward to this activity ... I wanted to build a car for the Gravity Races at the previous two IRGs ('08 & '10), but never got around to it ... this time, however, I've got a good start and time to actually finish the car! It'll be a car-&-teardrop combo that will be a bit outside the "norm", which is half the fun of it for me. I wish I was a little further along with it, but I've got to squeeze it in between orders and other projects, and like I said earlier, I'll post a pic or two when I've got something to show. I'll give a little hint, though ... some of you might remember Hemming's Motor News Christmas card from a decade-or-so ago ... ... and I'll leave it at that ... ...!

So, c'mon, Y'all ... get on board and have a lot of fun ... it's easy and cheap (or, certainly can be ... ...) and just a super-cool way to exercise your creativity and entertain each other! And, hey ... one or two won't take up that much room in the teardrop ... ...!

Who's bringing the scales? If the only rules are weight division and it's gotta fit on the track, I'd suggest having a couple of scales available so people can pre-weigh their car and then take an "official" weight just prior to being put on the track to race and I'd also say we should set the track (or at least the starting gate) up so people can make sure their car fits. Other than that, no rules...

Who says I take my fun too seriously??????
