The using of filthy language

I was searching around for any other forums/web sites that might have had further info about T/D's and camping-exploring . I have now stopped searching and I will be staying firmly entrenched in TnTTT right here. I looked into a TD sight and the language was revolting, it turned me completely off. It is bad enough to hear it in everyday life etc, but it's such a shame to read foul language in posts. It simply isn't required and detracts enormously from the quality of what may have been written, and written in good stead. I brought my three kids up with simple but strong ideals, the first and greatest was to keep the name that I gave you, squeaky clean. The other was to keep a clean heart for from the overflow of the heart does the mouth speak. A clean mouth, I instructed them, will take you infinitely further than any anything else you may have. By controlling their speech, they have done me very proud.
It is an exciting pleasure to read the posts here and the technical info is just so wonderful to share in.

Kody, I agree with your thoughts on the use of foul language. I am a member of a few motorycle forums and the foul language, name-calling and otherwise 'rude' dialogue adds no value to a post. It appears that common courtesy (online or in person) seems to be on a steady decline. This forum is one of the few that I visit where expletives and rude 'keyboard' behavior is non-existent.

I agree, as well ... but from the longer perspective, this forum is simply reflecting the overall nature of Teardropping and Teardroppers and Tiny & Vintage Trailer enthusiasts as a whole. Generally speaking, our genre attracts the best folks on the planet ... ...! I've been fortunate enough to experience this fact for coming up on 30 years, and I am exceedingly proud to be a part of such a wonderful community!

Yes, some (perhaps many) of us can and do throw around some well and not-so-well chosen expletives in our campsites and among our friends, but for the most part, we are wise and courteous enough to not bring that aspect of our conversive nature to this Forum! We can all give ourselves a well deserved round of ...!

Thanks to Mike and friends we do have a very friendly well mannered forum. My son recently started a Duke athletics forum and had the insight to install a really good filter that solves the problem of fowl language. Seems to be working well so far as the filter can be cut off for the ones who prefer the unfiltered version. Not sure if he wrote the program for the filter or found one somewhere.

I have long felt that the use of four letter words limits how you think. This was reinforced during one of my social work internships where I was talking with the executive director of an agency in the poorest section of Toledo, 13th poorest in the US. Part of the discussion was the expressive vocabularies of the males. Expressive vocabulary is that which you say rather than what you understand. Most individuals have about a 20,000 word expressive vocabulary and a very well educated individual may have 200,000. there are in excess of one million words.
So what happens when you have a very limited vocabulary, it limits your thinking and you may use body language and when an emotion you cant express presents it is morphed into the culturally acceptable, anger and four letter words.
Language shapes the way you think and the way you think shapes your language.

There are only two comedians that can put me on the floor Tim Conway and Red Skelton and I remember a half hour command performance to the queen and at the end of the of it Red said, note I did not use any four letter words.

If a person is around a lot of swearing in everyday language, they may start using it and not even realize that they have begun to swear. They may not even know the meaning of the cuss words that they are using because they may not have ever thought about it. If that is the case, it doesn't matter how much they know or how smart or how good they are. It just happens. Then, it needs to be brought to the attention of the individual so that they can be more aware of what they are saying. With basically good people, that's all you need to do.

having been a sailor in the good old USA NAVY I heard enough cuss words to last a life time.
I have a life long friend he sometimes lets out a few cuss words I always think what did that word add to the conversation?
I don't swear when I hit my finger, I don't swear when I'm trying to make a point, I don't swear when I talk to anyone,
I have thought a couple of times "I'm talking to the dumbest S.O.B. on the planet" which may be the same thing their thinking.
If I go off on a tangent which I sometimes do here on this site feel free to say hey! pete that's not what we're talking about start your own post.

Been there but typing it requires more thought than a language pattern. Kinda like slipping into Spanish for some but you still have to think to type...
