I just got back from the big "blue" box with a roll of vinyl flooring and adhesive. I agree with your assessment above. If in the future I want to go with something else, it will be relatively easy to remove and replace.

FWIW, here's another vote for the G-floor raised coin mat. It is easy to keep clean, comfortable to walk on (I'm a barefoot fanatic) and keeps things from sliding around under way. We just left ours floating, because we have only done our tentative build. It occasionally gets a bubble, but it hasn't been an issue.
