I remember when people realized there was a minute amount of mercury in CFLs and started getting all bent out of shape and saying we should go back to incandescents. Then someone did the math an showed that the amount was many times less than a power plant would produce in generating the power difference between the two types. So, less carbon, and less mercury; Yay!
