Dear Asianflava,
I believe the Kampmaster is in their collection on permanent loan. It has been there for a long time. I saw it there during the French Curves exhibit and that was in 2004.
And don't listen to Gage, he lives in the desert and spent to much time in the sun. The Petersen Museum is in Los Angeles and not in Beverly Hills.
You can just go north of the Museum along Fairfax Ave. and go to Famers Market, which is fun. It is right next to CBS and CBS has a tour at that location. However, you should get tickets ahead of time, you can even get tickets to game shows and sitcoms that are produced right there.
If you do go to Beverly Hills, which is a mile and a half west of the Petersen along Wilshire Blvd. you can park your car and tear in any public parking lot and most buildings for two hours free. A good place to park is right under the building at the North East corner of Rodeo Drive and Wishire Blvd.. It is called Two Rodeo, and it is a neat little scene and right smack in the middle of anything worth seeing in Bev. Hills. . There is a hidden treasure in Two Rodeo, a restuarant called McCormick & Shmick's, A Seatle based Seafood Chain. In the early evening and late at night they have the best FOOD and drink Happy Hour in SoCal. A $1.95 for a nice little meal. Take a look at the surroundings.

And here is the link to their patio and bar $1.95 menu.

Someone just PM'ed me "Asking how I know this?" Answer: My law office was around the corner.
Then you will finish early enough to drive further west about 5 miles and right into the ocean for a great sunset. While at the ocean go back 3 blocks to 3rd Street Promenade and really have a nice enjoyable stroll around with plenty of SAFE nightlife. Then you will be right there to head up north on the only section of Pacific Coast Highway that is just as good from the inland side.
You can do all that in one day! without being rushed.
Camp anywhere along the beach at numerous State parks right on the ocean. Visit Santa Barbara and Hearst Castle right on the same road.
