so FRP how do you stick it down and...

Postby sr5bidder » Mon Nov 19, 2012 6:33 pm

I want to get the FRP down soon but I have rough plywood to stick it to ,what do I use to glue it to the sides ? I would like to staple it around the edges but dont know what I would trim it out with to cover the staples. If I use it on the roof I will have 2) 4'x3' pieces, 2) 2'x3' pieces, and 1) 2'4'X3 left over because the roof is 5 foot wide .

Has anyone ever used the smooth side of FRP on the outside? If I could do that I would be able to use some of the scrap on the last bit of my rear quarter section on the sides ( my trailer is 9 foot at the longest points.

If I can offer a suggestion....

Get a gallon of polar seal or kool seal or any other elastopolimer mobile home roofcoat and paint the trailer first. The rubberized coating will seal the plywood well and any moisture that will form between the plywood and the filon will not become a problem down the road.

My little 3x5 was remover from it's frame and plopped in the back yard 3 years ago. I had occasion to roll it on its side a couple months ago and the bottom looks like the day I painted it. I was shocked and amazed expecting rotting delaminated osb.

When I built the chuckwagon and the 4x7 I simply trapped the filon behind the door trim and clearance lights and wood trim. I made no attempt to "GLUE" it down. For the roof I attached it with neatly spaced plastic rosettes.

Thanks, I have been a building engineer for 19 years and have an offer from a commercial roofer I have used for the last 7 years for whatever i want to use and he mentioned the white sealant that is used with a cloth or fiber. I originally contacted him about the newer white pvc roofing but I think you have to melt it to strips of itselfthat are fasted down.

The Atwood converter is likely single stage http://bryantrv.com/docs2/docs/atwoodconverter.pdf and will likely not fully charge batteries as they are talking about anything over 13V being acceptable output. If the batteries were completely discharged they are no longer any good. http://www.batteryfaq.org/ and http://www.windsun.com/Batteries/Battery_FAQ.htm

yeah thats what my wife said.

I now have the white TPO for the roof thanks to my roofer i use at work it is 5'6" x 10ft and I got another piece that is 5'6" x 6 foot in case I want to do the hatch.

Monday I dug out alot of this stuff called ProTecto wrap that the O.B. had layered on the hinge area of the roof. I'm not sure if want to just patch it back the best I can or tear thehatch off and rebuild it to be and properly hinged. I cant tell if the hinge is a hurricane hinge or not. I will take and post some pics when it gets dark tonight, for now I have to get the roof on my barn project so I can clear space in the garage.

I want to weld something up to take my camp bike with me, I was thinking of a slide out rack in the back that looks like a bumper with it slid in.
