Door Knob/Latch

Postby Roo Dog » Sat Nov 24, 2012 7:54 pm

I ran out of room to fit the door latch mechanism on the door itself so we fitted it to the body, just reversed it. Worked out a treat. It was good luck, not good design !

Cool fix, that is thinking outside the box!

Good solution, but I bet it causes a good bit of head scratching from
others, since it is so counter-intuitive/disruptive-of-habit for most people.

That's beyond outside of the box. That's in the next building. Fantastic!

HA,

I didn't think it would have been an original idea even though I had not seen it done elsewhere. Good to see someone came up with the same solution but for a different reason.

The lack of space on the door was a bit serendipitous as it turned out.

The door is actually very stiff being built up from ply, ally sheet then steel sheet with two 1 inch box section vertical rails with a very slight bow in them so the door pulls up tight when closed.

It was all more good luck than good management.

Neat idea with the keys. Worth a thought. Shall follow that up.

Take it easy.

Yeah that makes sense. Fitting auto gear to the door itself would present problems whereas on the wall you have the space.
Rather obvious when you think about it.
It's nice to think one has been clever, even if it was only for a little while.

Take it easy.
