Off topic. Our new smoke detector chirps a lot. It's wired in. Ideas? Thanks

Dead battery?

Is it wired together with other detectors?
One of them may be bad.
Could be a bad battery (even if new)
If battery is good, remove and reinstall, then test, this resets the alarm.
Should be a trouble shooting guide in the installation manual, or go online to the manufacturers Web site.

Apparentely steam from the shower is involved. I've unplugged it for the night so it can think about what it did.

Some will go off over lightning. I think the type that is often sensitive to lightning are the ionization detectors.
