Great looking trails, we have lots of bike trails around here and many up the mountains.
I`m on bike #3 and looking at a new one at the moment.

Thanks.. we are quite a few trails in the area.. this is my own "private" playground. Bike #3.. hmm my wife and I are on bike number... I am not sure how many we have had.. We are somewhere around 30 between us right now.. and have quite a few on the list.

We have had a few skinnies to play with for a while now.. but I got serious about them this summer. My wife and I got back into racing this last year. One of our races the 24 Hours of Great Glen.. had a few bridges.. and other skinny things to ride. Nothing too serious.. but it is a weakness of mine. Trying to do a 24 hour race.. having to cross them at 2:00 in the morning.. I decided I wanted to be more comfortable riding them. Sooo... I have what we call The Skinny Farm.. on The Playground. I have over 600' of log skinnies now. [with more to come]

Cool Glenn wish I had a proper mountain bike trail nearby. Closest thing is so tame that I have ridden it on my rode bike (trek 1200) with only a single point of concern getting off the trail and on to the side walk at one end!

Thanks Alan. I have a wide range of stuff out there.. [although not much that is road bike friendly] We regularly lead rides here, and have some stuff more "beginner" friendly, and some stuff that's not. Most often an easy trail is near a harder one.. so if someone feels ready to try something harder, they are not making a commitment, they can easily just pop back to an easy one.

I do have a mountain bike. Though at the moment I have semi road tires on it as there is literally no place nearby that I know of to ride a true mountain bike. Your trail network sounds better the more I here about it!

I have a friend that uses a harness with his dog. On his bike and on skis.

An abutting land owner [his parcel is 80 something acres], a place where I have some of my best access to, is having some logging done. In a worst case scenario, I am not loosing access. Although I was worried about the trails I have made being destroyed. I am a little "gun shy" when it comes to loggers. I have made a lot of dual track trails on this parcel as well as some nice single track. The owner had been in a bad car accident some years back so he does not mountain bike with us, and can't walk in the woods that easily. He uses the dual track [on snowmobile and 4 wheeler] and early on, I would asked him where he would like a new trail. Because of this and the way I treat his land, he has said to use his land as my own. My favorite trail over there is called Gandalf's Revenge. [Because of the long grey hair and beard, some had called me Gandalf] This trail is pretty tough..so hence the name. It also has some real pretty areas. Fortunately my neighbor did just recently walk it. He knew of it, and had seen some of it before, but didn't really know it. He said he was able to walk it because it was a clear path. He was out deer "hunting". I had just recently just used the leaf blower to clean the trail. There are places, it is the only way to tell where the trail goes is if it is kept clear of leaves. He loved it because it made for silent walking. He loved the trail finding it very beautiful. Well he also did not want this trail harmed either. He has talked to his forester repeatedly about this. Last week the 3 of us met and walked the trail and talked. My neighbor kept asking if I was ok with this.. ok with that. It was a rather amazing experience.. to be given the considerations that I was.
So hopefully this will work out ok.

This is a photo of a nice area on Gandalf's Revenge. It is a ledgy area separating two little pools. The pool on the left, is higher up than the one on the right.. with a little bit of a "waterfall" flowing under the bridge.

A photo of one of our group rides. This is a common photo stop location. This is a nice private beach accesses from the trails.

With my mix of dual track and single track.. Doing things like building a bridge I can often haul stuff out like this most of the way



But then as in this case.. I still have a little ways to "mule" it in. I have a logging chain that I fasten playground "rings" to with carabiners. It actually works pretty well.
