I am planning on making toboggans for each of the kids in the family. So 6 or 7. I plan on having the older kids help me bend and stain the wood. I will just tell them we are making large candy cane decorations.

I am making a table for my 3 year boy. He likes playing with his wooden train set. So we thought about a table so he could have a place to leave them out and play.

OK, this is mostly showing-off, but it's nearly a hand-made Christmas gift.

My Australian godson was thrilled to get to meet Lady Gaga this year:

And was even more thrilled when she was seen leaving a Paris hotel wearing the (rather weird) sunglasses he had made and given to her:

Congrats, Andrew and Daniel!

(Lady Gaga sure knows how to make herself look ugly but she can look good when she wants to.
I guess looking like that is just one more way to sensationalize and make money.)

I'm happy for him - there can't be many cooler things than that which can happen to you when you're 19, can there? Later in life it might not matter much, but the priorities are that age are different.....

How many degrees of separation is that ? Two or three ?

I'm not really a Lady GaGa fan or follower, 'just aware of her
from the occasional song on the radio - but this is a catchy
tune:

Other than for the the unfortunate name, it seems to me
like one of those songs that'd become a wedding reception
staple - sorta like "Y M C A" by the Village People.

'Neat' for you Godson, that his gift was appreciated and used by
her - and that he has photographic proof of it.
If you have a house - you have a hobby.

Here's my ornament for this year. I think it is #17 in the set. Pine and Mahogony laminated then ripped and re-laminated, then shaped. Tablesaw was the only tool used, other than clamps for gluing.
Clearly I ain't no photographer, but at least I have gotten the size right.

Here are a couple lamps I made for my wife this Christmas.
This first one is a Floor Lamp. It has 4 LED elements: Top and bottom caps have high power warm white elements, Center has natural white high power element, Night light mode has a single warm white LED element - Always on. Here are 3 pics showing its various modes. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out.

This next one is a bedside night stand lamp. I made two of these - one for each side of bed. These have a single warm white LED halo style element firing down onto a conical reflector - actually a chromed bathtub standoff. These also have a touch dimmer, like the floor lamp.

Well, I should have known......

Made and gave Nicola the Steampunk hat, then she started to grumble about a hat stand to set it on.

Today I made an effort and sorted out some wood and ended up with 3 pieces of Tulip wood.

Turned a Base. Head and then the Stem and put them together.

Put is out in the lounge with the Tophat on, then waited to see what the boss thought.....

Success.

Earlier on this morning I also made up some brooches for her.

Happy to say they were what seems to be a success as well.
