Have you ever used it? You cannot control the amount of expansion of the regular spray foam. The expansion would make my 1/8" paneling bulge out and probably tear loose from the adhesive on the frames. I put spray foam under the bottom of some sash type windows that I once installed in my house. I failed to close and lock the windows first. The foam actually made the bottoms of the frames bow upward so that I couldn't close and lock the windows after the foam expanded. I had to cut the foam out, close and lock the windows, and do it all over again.
There is a low expansion foam, but I'd have to drill quite a lot of holes to get it to fill all of the area. It's just not practical to do either.
