Ira,
Just keep in mind that if you are going to go with epoxy on your fenders, you really need to go with the water based aniline dye.
If you choose another type of stain, be sure to use a compatible sealer/finish.
Epoxy doesn't like oil based stains....

That is a REALLY good point. And with gold moon caps?

And Dean, I think I'll varnish like Chip said. Nice and easy.

Wow--it's hard to keep up with all of the EXCITEMENT here. (For me, not you.)

Kerry and Chip--red stain, black striping and varnish sounds really cool.

Brewer's black and bigger-looking tires makes sense too.

Okay--I'll do one fender one way and the other the OTHER way.

Ira, I dropped in here to see some wooden fenders, I didn't see them, but I do like the beer shades you built  seriously, I think the natural tone would look better

When I checked the poll results it was all tied up. I didn't want to make a tie breaking vote.

Your safe here Ira. I don't lay on my back or craw under teardrops to see what they look like. And I've never said any part of your teardrop was ugly. Different maybe but not ugly. Now to get back on subject. Why don't you paint the fenders sand brown (tan) and then mount one of those blue crabs on each fender. Put them on a hook so you can remove them when your on the road and then put them on the fenders when your at a gathering.

Have a good day.

Ira, I with the others who said black to match your hardware. If not black, stain, but not red!

Since black and red tied, this may be an idea. Maybe I can take the profile, scale it, and then do something red in the MIDDLE of the black.

And welcome back, Woody! (By the way, Andrew did those profiles for me--he designed them and sent me the CAD files.)

Ira,
what is the measurement across the tops of the fenders? The reason I ask is I wonder if the door skins would cover it in one piece.
If not then there would be a seam and that may have some bearing on the finish you would want to use.

Just a thought (or rambling on)
