... half the FUN is talkin' smack, braggin' and eggin' and/or encouragin' folks along the way and getting' there. The old saying that the BS stops when the green flag drops is true enough, but this is ALL for FUN ... ...!

I, for one, am really eager to see what other folks come up with ... and hope a lot of folks pick up some pine and start whittling' ... win, loose, or draw, I'm in it just to be in it, and appreciate the chance to get a little creative silly goin' on ... ...!

@ Grant ----- don't get too eager we grow pines here in Carolina and I hope we know what to do with them.

I have to scrape the pine tar off my shoes before entering the house. Got my kits on the way.

OK you guys have sucked me in.. what are the dimensions? I saw kits for like 85 bucks i dont think so I am not gonna make a career of this .. can somebody post sizes of wheels ground clearance wheel base,track width.. I just want to play, There may have been a website posted but the thread has got so long I cant find it.

Just look for your closest Scout shop or an online Scout shop. The basic BSA Pinewood Derby kit is only something like $3.50 or so and includes axles and wheels. The block is already the right size as well. Just cut it to the shape you want.

The kits are available at most bigger hobby craft stores like Michaels. Wally world most likey has them too but I dont know for sure. The basic kit is under $5. Sky is the limit on what you could spend. There is one site that sell bearings for the wheels! Seems like most people will end up about 25 bucks into the car. Thats the car, weight, paint, graphite, magic, torment, and a little luck.

Did you design that miniture anti-gravity reactions propulsion system into your car?

I've been doing some testing and I find that if you keep the propulsion system small enough, it's actually believable.
