My only issue/concern with slide-outs and pop-ups is that they should be useable whether they are expanded or closed. Other opinions will be different, but I like the idea of options vs necessity. I'd rather have the option of expanding my space, rather than relying on the task of having to expand it. My friend and I are working on some ideas for his teardrop and have been faced with this issue.

Hi Mike
It did snow here today and still is, just not adding up to much though.
About an inch.
They are forcasting warmer weather for the rest of the week so it won/t stay.

sor me a trailer with a skide out should still be usable if your just pulling over to get some sleep who wants to unhook this and lift that then slide this just to get some shut eye I think a slideout is more for talking about it to fellow campers and for when your going to stay in one place for a while....thats my opinion anyways

My slide out works great. It comes out in about 10 seconds and is simple. I use it for storage . I wanted a more open cabin and this eliminated the need for cabinets and houses my heater as well. :D

My lifting roof works well that way but isn't as pretty as the curves of a teardrop.

A slide out would be nice in conjunction with a Murphy-style bed, for when extra beds are needed or for a Murphy-style pull-down or pull-out couch.

Very nice! Could you provide some details on your slide mechanism, please, and how you did the lower seal on the interior?

Thank you,
Tom

I will take some detailed pics and post them . It works just like a slide on a big camper. It seals on the inside and the outside with angle iron all the way around. No leaks as of yet. There is no mechanism , it works like a drawer in a chest of drawers. Wood that slides on aluminum. It's tight enough that it stays out when it's open and when it is closed in travel I have a safety chain and turnbuckle to snug it closed.

Only other small sized TD with a pop-out I have seen, besides dog beds, was the K-pod (youtube). The pop out was only
enough so you can use it for a place to place your coffee cup or a small lantern. It did eliminate the
need for a table between the two benches for your coffee.

Terry, Sorry, no videos. I never thought to do that and I'm not aware of anyone else taking a video of it either. It's all manually done, no hydraulics or anything like that. I lift the roof using a boat's push/pull pole that sits in a boat pad eye. When the roof is lifted up, I cradle the end of the pole on the tongue and go inside and lift the two sides and the folding front up; secure them and then go outside and lower the roof onto the raised sides. Once that's done, there is a common, old fashioned window lock that secures the roof to the folding sides. That's it...no magic. By lifting the roof at the end with the pole, I'm only lifting part of the weight of the roof, about 35 pounds. Most adults can lift that much.
