Whatcha do on your build today?

My doggie teardrop number two, is almost finished and I 've just installed a dog-faced door so my pomerainian can enter from the side. The galley is set up as a viewing platform for little Roxy, so it allows for a Kodak moment in the campgrounds. This 32 incher has the roof constructed from formica with varnished plywood sides. Next step, a little mattress for the dog to sleep on.

The finish is always worth the effort.

The first coat was with a brush so I could push it into all the little nook and crannys but from now on it will be with some disposable gloves I got at home hardware just pour some on and give it a nice thin coat and then wait a friend of mine suggests to wait a week between coats for it to have that "under glass finish" but I might just give it a few days at a time and see how that goes....maybe I should google it and see what others say

Well. My TD is in the machine shed and I parked beside it today. I park in there so I don't have to scrap frost or snow off. Just some occasional droppings. Looked over at the TD and noticed some spots I missed washing it and that the trim needs to be re-varnished and day dreamed about building TD #2.

I finally got my fenders mounted and feel like it's gonna be O.K. Maybe a little undersized for the overall design but what the hey! I built the fenders as soon as I got the trailer frame, before I even knew what the tear was going to look like.
I think my nearly last step will be a very dark grey paint for the frame and fenders then I'm off to see if I enjoy camping (in the spring!) (Never been camping)

Sorry I still can't figure out how to post pictures of the right size but if you open 'em in a new tab, you'll see what I got going...

Well I'd hoped to finish welding up my frame today, but thanks to the nastiest flu bug I've had in years, I've spent the last two days making space on my dvr. Woohoo :x

I am in the final stage of my build (why did no one tell me this would take so long?). Since I live in Arizona having AC is without question required, at least for me. Today I welded the frame of the box the AC will sit on. I plan on putting the ice chest inside this box sitting on the tongue of the trailer.

I finished the design for fitting shockies to the trailer axle. I have already installed one to my original drawings but I decided to redraw the installation so if anyone wants to add shockies, the design I have now is very easy to build and fit on. The shockies are mounted on a special bracket that bolts onto the plate under the spring and uses the existing "U" bolts to hold the attachment on. The mounting bracket can be made will normal tools (?) as found in the home workshop. There is some welding involved but nothing that's hard to do. The design can be very easily adapted to suit any trailer with leaf springs. If anyone is interested in adding shockies to their TD, I will post the info for you all. I will fit the second shockie on tomorrow building the mount to my original drawings. The second improved style is much better but I will stay with what I have 'cos I'm over half way in building the mounts. If enough people like the design method of building the second mount, maybe the drawings could become a "stickey".

So Steve
Is it ready to hook on?
We have not seen pictures lately.
Or are they on your build journal?

Just brought home some more metal for the frame, primed them and will align it up and drill some holes then shoot a couple of rivets just to hold it till the weekend.

I'm getting very close, just need to install the hitch and all is good.
I'm waiting for the weather to warm up a bit so I can install the skins. I'm thinking that I need to warm up the garage and do it there.
I'm completely out of energy as I'm in the last 2 stages of chemo, can't wait till this is over so I can get back on track!
I'm getting so close to being finished and spring is just around the corner!
I'm really thinking about doing a month alone and just wandering around B.C. I'm not big on making plans and destination stops, I just like to pack up and go and ee what happens :)

Hey Steve
Sounds like it could be a TJ recruiting trip or a get aquained tour.
You could easily become the official "Good Will Ambassador" for our new Chapter of the Tear Jerkers.
With the warmer weather of Spring, I hope you start to get your strength back and get a chance to hit the Roads with your new TD.
Depending on which way you turn when you leave your driveway......we are only 3 1/2 hours away and have lots of camping space here at the farm!
Are you planning to go South to the 20th Dam Gathering? Just sent my registration in last week!!
