AT0001 for sale

Postby madjack » Tue Apr 04, 2006 10:56 am

...ever since we started our project, the intent was to build it for sale...we spent months designing something unique(profile) and building, disassembling and rebuilding to perfect our techinques.
We have finally come up with a finished product and it is for sale.
The absolutely finished product will sell for about 7500 dollars and AT0001 is for sale right now for 6000 USD without A/C or rear bumper...all build pics can be seen by clicking my WWW button and pics of it in use can be seen at http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/laalligat ... /my_photos ...as long as it is in our hands, we are maiking improvements based on our trip to Beaver's Bend.
Please PM or email me for aditional info and feel free to ask anyone who attended the BB gathering their thoughts and impressions of our work.
The AT0001 will be shown locally and will eventually end up on ebay if not sold locally or on the board

Jack & Jim (aka madjack & B52)

p.s. some basic info; it is a 4x8 with bult in water tank, 12vdc and 120vac systems, twin wing tables, 2000# Flexiride axle derated to 1500#'s, RW Johnson Kit fenders, 205-70-15 tires on chrome modular wheels, frame is 2x1/8 square tube, tongue is "A" style made from 2x3/16 square tube, Atwood stabilizer jacks and a whole bunch more

How does one derate an axel?
Chris :D

The tension between what is good enough and what is beyond that creates the space for character to become our work.

axel...a figure skating turn and I am not sure of the derating process invlolved there  ;)

axle...what vehicles ride on..any axle, spring or torsion can be derated...a spring axle is derated by removing/changing the springs...a torsion axle is derated by shortening the rubbers in the axle tube...Flexirides and Torflex can be derated when ordered, within their specified range...ie, a 2000# can be rated from 1000#'s upto it's specified limit of 2000#'s

MadJack,

Just curious here, but have you weighed the AT0001? Looks really good, by the way....been admiring it in everyone's pictures from the gathering last weekend. Wish I had ordered my axle derated because on a rough road, sometimes I think it only hits the high spots.

I didn't know about derating them till I read a past thread. I wish I had mine derated as well. I'm running my tire pressure at ~23psi but I still have more bounce than I would like.

Let me weigh in with my unsolicited opinion since I was lucky enough to see the trailer at Beavers Bend. Like a lot of the trailers on this forum Jack and Jim did a really nice job with the construction. The attention to detail is evident. The one thing that struck me was how well thought out the trailer is. It appears to be very functional and has been built so it can be easily personalized. These are my opinions from looking at the trailer, your mileage may vary.

MJ,

$6000 - $7500 USD seems very appropriate. Visually a very nice design, and logical in concept and construction. I think you have a good product. If it wasn't so much fun building them, I'd buy one from you. Do you have business cards? I've had a few people ask me if I'd build them one, and I really don't want to, I want to build me another one though.

I have to agree with Scott, this is one beautiful, well thought out tear. They don't get any closer to perfection.

Nice picture Dave... what kind of a camera did you get?

MJ, I'm sitting here staring at your gas struts on the hatch. I tried to do em that way, but it didn't work out for me. I ended up doing them more like Grant does...

How do you like your gas strut arrangement?
