Postby Von Pook » Sun Jan 27, 2013 5:54 pm

Does anyone know where to find a TV and blue ray combo that runs on 12 VDC? Thank you

I will be using a 12 volt 3 inch Jensen Television and the head unit that is compatible for it not sure if it is blue-ray or not but then I have a very small inverter to run my PlayStation 3 (that can play blue-rays as well as many other things)

I built in a Skyworth tv 13" HD with built in dvd. I don't know how many 12 volt players are Bluray but if you Google 12 televisions you will find several companies that sell them online. You might want to buy the dvd and tv as separate units so if one goes bad you don't have to replace the part that works. Almost allthe online companies that cater to truckers carry several brands.

Considering the size of the screen Blue Ray does not significantly impact resolution all that much. Any time I buy movies that might be used in CR they have both the Blue Ray and conventional DVD in the case.

Just an idea but you might want to look into using a tablet instead of a TV/DVD player. They are thin and light and have better screens than you would probably find on a small 12v TV, and they can charge directly from a 12 volt socket. You can get the Nexus 7 7" tablet for under $200 too.

I think I would look hard at the flip down units at car stereo stores as suggested in another post - some are really nice but can be a little pricy if you get in a hurry and don't shop around. Most of those have a decent radio/cd built in also depending on what audio / video your wanting to install.

I really need something with the blue ray option, for my ladies movies that she loves. I have looked at several overhead units, and after decades of touring in buses. I just do not like them. They tend to break. The option of having different units is wise, in case of failure. We boondock camp most often so 120VAC is not handy which makes us reliant on the battery system. Thank you folks

Why not use a laptop?

Laptop is an option, I would just like to mount something in the tear, keeping the laptop available for use whenever she wants it for facebook lol
