Steve
We are back from our x border Mexican lunch and low cal beers.
Your GPS will work just fine in the USA.
And Georgia? it is just a little to the south east of Washington State.

GA.....South and East just a little ways, and well the wine is yours to pick, I have all 8 major types, even the ones I don't like, in the cupboard. see early on I learned when I try a new one I buy two, if I dont like it I just put the other one in the cupboard then someone will come over and I let them have their choice.I I keep the choice boxes, the ones with screw off lids in the fridge.

Agreed!
Lordco does seem to make up their own "list" price........but with the right amount of discount and the right counter guy.
The out the door price can be reduced a ton!

Good thing you told me as I was going to buy off line and have it shipped!
The last thing I need is knock off crap. Bad enough that my dog is oriental

You know what. You'd be better off to just stay up there and stop complaining about how much everything cost. And please if you do happen to slide down here, stay away from our cheap beer.

Made in the USA stuff is coming back, sort of. More people are looking for it and buying what they can find that is made here. But the whole world is having trouble with cheap Chinese products. Ya just can't get away from it very easily. Much of what is "USA-available", now, is actually "assembled in the USA" with parts from various places in the world. Ya gotta check carefully. When I bought my refrigerator, a couple years ago, I had to settle for a Japanese brand, assembled in America with parts that were made in Mexico. When my GE microwave needed repairing, I found out that the insides were made by Samsung. That's just the way it is now. There are websites that tell us what is made in the USA. Sometimes those websites are accurate and sometimes they are "sort of" accurate. However, one statement still rings fairly true: "You get what you pay for." What that means is if you buy cheap, chances are good that it will be a cheap product, unless it's used or discontinued or....? Then, who knows?!

Ummmm, doesn't Tonasket have microbrews? Where is this restaurant you speak of? I used to live there and was thinking of a trip up that way. The good Mexican food was in Oroville and Omak/Okanogan then.

Microbrews are most everywhere, even in our small not a town area. The alcohol content varies in them. They'll cost more, but if you want a quicker beer buzz, you'll have to go that route.

And a quick remark, not all of us are suffering down here. A few are managing to get by..... ;)

Hey Stumphugger
Where are you?
And yes I have had Mexican in all of the places you mentioned.
But since Rancho Chicos came to Tonasket it is our go to place.
They are at the north end of town on the right as you are leaving left if you are arriving from the north.
Their first outlet was, and still is on Main Street in Omak, used to go there!
Before that it was allways Torinos in Oroville, but they have gone down hill the past few years???
I was hoping to organize a Northwest crawl accross Hwy 20 or a campout at either in Winthrop or Conconully???
Would you be interested or would you rather join us at the farm 70 miles north of the border on 97.

I now live in the wet part of the state, between Yakima and Chehalis--Highway 12. I have friends in Omak who want me to come up and I probably will this year, but I'm terrible at planning.

Look into microbrews. I thought there was a brewery going in somewhere in the Okanogan. There seem to be breweries everywhere else. Here, I take empty bottles to a neighbor and he gives me full bottles of his homebrew, and boy is it good. Up at the ski hill, I like to get a 12 oz. glass of Irish Death. It goes well with my peanut butter sandwich. The bigger size affects my skiing too much. I think Irish Death is brewed in Roslyn or Ellensburg? In Centralia, there is Dick's brewery and then the Olympic Club, which is run by McMenamins, also has their own brew. It ain't your Coors. :)

I'm thinking there is a brewery in Twisp or Winthrop also. I haven't been there for eons.

Stumphugger
Yes the "School House" in Winthrop has some nice Ales and Hoppy Lagers.
I am mostly a "Dark Ale" drinker, as have you ever heard anyone say they have an "Ale Belly"
We too have a ton of micr breweries here on the noth side of the 49th.
Here in the Okanagan Valley, my favorites are Tin Whistle in Penticton (Black Widow) and Naramata's (Nut Brown) and Freddys Brew Pub in Kelowna (Brown Stone Ale).
But content to drink Granville Island's (Winter Ale) over the winter months.
Come on up if you get to Omak and we will tip a few.

It isn't really a town, and I may have made a typo, I am 90 miles west of Yakima. The big city of Randle, WA, of which the "downtown" core is a grocery, tavern, restaurant, mini-mart, building with dentist and library, post office, and a coffee hut. You do have to slow down to 35mph to pass through...

To do any proper shopping, I must travel for an hour to the west. But I like it here. I live in the woods--in a place where city people come to get away and camp. When a tourist asks where the McDonalds is, the answer is "About 60 miles thataway."
