Help with trailer frame

I had a question come into the Teardroptrailers.org site from a guy wanting to learn more about the actual trailer part of a build. He has looked around here, but still needs a little help

"I am contemplating building a teardop trailer for our use in retirement, approximately 5+ years away. My biggest concern is where to buy a trailer to start. The Harbor freight and Tractor supply trailers don't impress me much, primarily due to past experiences with both companies but also due to a desire to make a 5' wide tear that would be about 5' high. I'd appreciate any recommendations that you might have also..."

Another place to look is Red Trailer, They have a 5' wide by 8' long Model SJ-8531 with 12" Tires. It is the one used to build the Generic Benroy. Look at http://redtrailers.com The other option is to have someone weld you up one for the dimensions you want. Scott

There should be a ton of old Popup tent trailers For Sale these days.....Cheap??
With one of these you would get a fridge, stove, furnace, sink, jacks, etc.
Big head start with any build!

My personal feeling is that you are money ahead having one built to task. I bought our trailer in part because it was what I thought I wanted, and with one exception it is, now! The aluminum had to be reinforced in the tongue and I wish I had Flexride axles that would take 15 Rims with 10" brakes.
