Gas prices have nothing do to with who is in office.

no not the actual price directly, but access to drilling sites, and pipeline construction has a very direct effect. Back when W let the oil co's explore for oil it was enough to drive the price down as it was assumed future production would go up and thus crude would not be a safe return with a profit the way it normally is. This explains why oil and gas prices were so low on the day O was sworn in. O reversed the policy of allowing exploration, then severely cut back on deep water off shore drilling after the BP well fiasco, he then refused the pipeline to Canada, and the EPA is currently trying to kill fracking. Thanks to the canceling of many contracts for oil exploration on govt. land, and new restrictions from the govt. on where exploration is allowed, there is excellent reason to expect future supply will make oil speculation a safe bet.
The only thing offsetting all the bad news for oil production is the nose dive our economy will continue to see thanks to the election, business was holding out hope for a course correction in the white house but now must shed any excess jobs and hold onto any cash possible. we are just starting to see the landslide of unemployment and a bad economy doesn't need more production, as unemployed people don't drive nearly as much, stores won't need quite as much shipped, and less transportation will be needed for the slow down in manufacturing and business.
No need to risk all that money on new wells when they might just end up capped and unneeded. Welcome to the late 70's all over again... :frightened:

Ethanol is terrible for the environment. Ethanol also produces about 20% less btu's than gasoline, so no, you don't get good fuel mileage using it.

Between the fuel used to produce ethanol and the subsidies being paid to sell corn to the processing plants, ethanol is terrible, terrible stuff.

fracking here in ohio has made many over night millionairs
the oil companys paid landowners in north east ohio millions for the oil rights on their lands.
hard to turn down with that much money you can move to a warmer state and let your neighbors worry about the water polution fracking causes.

pipe line from canada to NOLA and texas to our refineries they don't say gas will only be sold in USA
but that it will be sold world wide keeping gas prices high here in the good ol' USA

I think public lands that were tied up by oil companys and not being used keeping oil supplys low should be open to someone who
will drill and then sold here in the USA.

By the way, gas prices are on their way down, just in time for Thanksgiving, as the gas companies promised.

The corner gas station near my house is selling gas for $3.49, down from $4.09, and may go down even further. :)

Certainly have to agree with Cowboy ... Ethanol is some really BAD stuff... less mileage (documented/tested) ... and it EATS certain motor parts ... My mechanic is forever replacing O2 sensors , fuel pump parts ... Good for their “Economy" , Bad for us ... The Rich get Richer ...

PS. That high fructose corn syrup used in our FOOD is also BAD for us ... same thing ...

Just saw an article in the morning paper that the LOWEST gas prices in the country right now are in Casper, Wyoming.

Here in B.C. our gas prices continue to go down each week, but it is winter.
In the summer or just before a holiday weekend they mysteriously rise again even if the Oil prices are down??

And if you want to see them you have to pay the price.

We pick and choose as we travel south, as prices drop the closer we get to the border.
If the tank is empty we fill up here before we leave, but if we have enough fuel in the tank we can always get gas in summerland about 3 cents a litre cheaper and 5 cents a litre cheaper in Penticton.
So we play it by ear.
Gas is way cheaper once we get across the border into the USA.

So things are getting better!
And it is the first of the month so you have almost a full month until you have to worry about those "end of the month bills"
Thats' two things!!
Now just have Angie drive to you for a weekend date at the farm! ;)
That would be three things.
What more could go your way?????

For those with a smart phone, gas buddy is a nifty little app that show you both the nearest gas station plus the price of gas there. Constantly up dated. Helpful for traveling.

where slow lives I'm sure he knows where every gas station is, might even know the owners, gas buddy and websites like it are good for those who drive where you have a station every few miles, where he lives I bet he can count all the stations in two hours drive on a hand or two.

Slow I paid $2.99 last week I've made several trips so I now need gas it's $3.49 what's up with that?

"sometimes you wander when enough is enough!" I too wonder just when enough is enough it seems it's not now.

stick to your morals, walk your own path just because someone else does something doesn't mean it's right
