Wood stove test in camper (failed)

I found a place near me that sells coal, I plan to pick some up and see if that will burn overnight. Although I don't know if the camper will get much use this winter. At the moment it is pretty well snowed in, Hopefully the snow we got will settle a bit and I will be able to pull it out of where it is at.

Is the heat stove you have, equiped for coal ? It burn conciderably hotter than wood and while a coal stove will burn wood not all wood stoves will burn coal. I have seen where a cheap chinese cast iron pot or skillet with the handle sawn off of it was pressed into service as the coal burner area to protect the thinner mild steel in a light duty wood stove.

No it isn't built for coal, it is just a metal box I welded up in high school out of free, 3/32 sheet metal.

will give one better ideas on Rocket stoves for heating floors but one would need a portable system that the true fire would be keep away from the trailer. one guy insulated with vermiculite. but in the past it had asbestos in it, other use sand.
