Summer camping plans!

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

I hope to have my teardrop done by early summer. We would like to do at least one trip with the Tearjerkers, will probably take the camper to Kentucky for my family reunion and would like to do as many weekenders as possible while we ride the Rail Trails in our area (that's why we called it the "Sagwagon").

The wife & I are chomping at the bit! I have just started my new "modified camper 12" and we are planning a 2+ week trip in May & June. We are planning a loop from Indiana, through S. Dakota, to N. Montana to see the Son, daughter and grandkids, down into Wyoming and back thru Colorado & home. See all we can in that time. Taking almost ALL 2ndary roads & old hiways. Stay off the interstates as much as possible.
We used to take our cubby everywhere. To the weekend dragraces, trips, of course, even weekend get-aways. Always had a place to get out of the sun, take a nap, grab a bite to eat, etc. People were jelous at the race track. We'd go out to the trailer at lunch, set up the EZ up, a couple bag chairs, grill a couple steaks and a cold one, take a 15 minute nap and raring to go back & sit in the sun.

I use my teardrop during the summer as a base camp for backpacking trips. I'm going back to Grand Teton National Park this year and doing most of the northern half of the park that pretty much everyone ignores compared to the southern half. Probably 5 days in Berry and Owl creek and over Moose Divide. Probably wind up seeing from 0 to 1 other group of backpackers. Then I'll hit the teardrop for a day or twos rest and do some other day hikes and come up the western side of the range thru the Jedidiah Smith wilderness on the Idaho side.

I also have a 2 week trip planned out to SW Colorado in the Rio Grand national forest. I'll base in the NF in the teardrop and try to get in at least (2) 3-4 day backpacking trips into the Weminuche wilderness or South San Juan wilderness.

I might make a small trip or two to Ouachita's in AR and do Eagle Rock loop twice thru to get warmed up or perhaps run up to eastern TN and do a few days as a last warm up.

My summer plans are to hook up the little 245 pound, Stacker and head out to some of the many Utah nat'l parks. Then from there, we'll see how it goes. I am afraid if I don't get on the road while I can still drive, my kids won't want me to head out cross country alone. Lets see, has anyone pulled a teardrop while pushing 100 years old. Hey, I've only got 19 1/2 more years until that date.

I do plan to attend the walk the winds and meet good ol' Slow Cowboy and Angie In WY. From there, a drive through Yellostone and Glacier Nat'l Park would be nice. Oh yeah, and then there is a guy who I hope to hook up with at his "little" gathering in Shasta, right Grant? Other than that, there is the Teardrop Only, Lake Perris Gathering, that is only 15 miles from my house. Gotta make that one too. My leisure retirement plans are so loose, they change day by day, and I love it.

I already have reservations for CRA and eight days in Lake Superior Provincial Park. We will do Washington DC immediately after school lets out (our district starts and ends early so we beat the crowds), we also plan on Boogie in the Hills (Tearjerjers).

Plans include(but not limited to)random boondocking along the snake in Idaho, and Blackfoot resevoir in Idaho. Some local camping here in Utah, mostly fishing spots, WTWs and the Dam Jam in Aug. Would love to take the time for the Oregon coast but that would burn up too much vacation. Unfortunately I'll have to spend time fixing up the harley as it's been neglected for two and a half years, and partial resto on the honda trail 90, not to mention the ongoing work on the tear.

If you see my harley on a trailer,,,,call the police cause it's being stolen...

So headed over to sacramento at the end of the month for a birding trip, and meeting up with teardrop friends for diiner, taking the tear for cheap, comfortable lodging. nothing so far in march or april (camping, that is ). Dam gathering and the Spring Wings birding festival in May. Twain and Tears in Unionville NV in June. Solo camping somwhere inJuly. Friends campout at wolf creek CA in August, then Falling Tears in Reno in Sept. plus we will do a group camp with my sons and their families sometime, probably July.

Also headed to Mexico to visit Randy's stepsister who lives there for Easter break and i am spending a week in Maine with school nurse friends in August. Whew! Making up for not having a real vacation in two years all at once!

If you can still handle it, I don't see why not. Grandpa last rode one of his Indians at 99. At that point he was loosing muscle control along the sides of his trunk so he couldn't properly balance a motorcycle anymore.
