Another silly question

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

I'm glad you're staying, Rob. You're among the people whose advice I respect.

Sometimes a theme is really fun. Just think about Rediver's pirate theme or Jerome's shack teardrop or the Log Cabin teardrop that was recently at the Arizona gathering(?).

Sometimes, color combinations are the theme, such as all the
RED in Eunice's campsite or the bright green and blue combinations. It's entertaining! It would be really boring if everyone's trailer was just black and white or brown and brown or if everybody's trailer was built the same. ...It's true. Variety really is the spice of life!

We all goof sometimes, and post in the wrong place, it isn't something that 99.999% need to be reprimanded over, it/they simply need to be moved by whoever is in charge.
When posts are left where they land, others presume it must be okay...

MadJack was the king of editors around here. Unfortunately, Health issues for him and Marlene have taken precedence in their life.
Miriam Was great at keeping everyone nice. The tornado wiped out Joplin and she is trying to rebuild things for her family. It's amazing how just a couple of moderators who are good at what they do being missing can change things. I think the golden rule is to treat each other the way you would like to be treated should be a basic rule of thumb for everyone in all aspects of our lives.

OK, now that we have it settled that 48Rob, Becky, Sharon and others are staying (whew!!!) because the winter duldrums are not going to spoil this wonderful forum.......

My theme doesn't have to be there...it is the teardrop. With the patriotic decals on my Little Guy in place when I bought it, I've actually enjoyed sticking with the red, white and blue colors. If the Little Guy would have been white when I got it, I probably would have at least had a red "theme". Why? Red is my favorite color!!!!

Had I trusted myself to build my own teardrop, I know my theme would have been like Roly's.....all wood. But, I'm happy with what I have.

Well stated Rob, those are my feelings exactly. How unfortunate that a few of people can change the formally friendly atmosphere so much. The eye opener for me was when someone PM'd me a question because it wasn't worth posting on the forum and "getting shouted down". How sad is that?

Theme and/or color…Some have a theme; some have color; some have both. Take a look at some of these:

Nearly colorless but a marvel of a theme, who could forget DanDan’s Roswell:

Image

But then, a beautiful polished tear like Aggie79’s needs no color to introduce itself:

Image

With a different design and both color and theme, here is Catoosa Grani’s Lil’Gypsy:

Image

A woody, like Wolfgang’s is always nice:

Image

Nevadatear’s Monstero is a woody on the outside but has a theme and color as well:

Image

….The combinations of design, theme and color seem to be endless!

Variety really is the spice of life!

PS... Are we back on track yet?

I read the question like some people have a theme and some don't . Slow I am of the opinion having read a lot of your post and seeing the pictures of your TD I think it is a silver streak just like the so beloved streak of silver that those of us love about you. Gage I haven't seen yours but I know it has personality. 8) I haven't built mine yet and I know it will develop one later I can't help but to be excited about the prospect of naming and building a theme. if all of the TD and small trailers were alike I don't think people would be building them. That was part of my draw. I saw a picture of an older lady with a cute TD decorated and the campsite decorated and I saw a very happy lady. I have already said one of my reasons is to travel, Well alll my life I heard from my mother about her trip out west , well it is on my bucket list...............I want to see all those things she saw.

Mary C wrote:I had a foreign exchange student from the communist part of Germany right after the wall went down. I remember her remark about how here we were allowed to have so many different colored and exciting things and so many things that were different from another. you could buy very different things. I asked her about what she meant and she said everyone on her street had the same sofa and the same Chair upholstered in the same colors. That was all they had available to purchase. So..............we decorate because we can and build our Build to be different and to personalize in order to make it our own, otherwise everything would be the same. We are so lucky to be able to do so.

To me it is simple, why do you decorated your home ?
To make the space fit your needs, wants and personality.
Same goes for my trailer.
It would not have been nearly as good an outcome, if it was not for this forum.

Not to go backwards. But I have been reading this thread since the begining, and I agree with Sharon.
There has really been nothing negative said here about Gage, and I also think he should be THANKED for starting this interesting topic.
And it SHOULD be here under "General Discussions" !
As far I am concerned there has only been ONE negative post on this Thread so far and the person that posted knows who he is!!!
Unfortunately it did change the direction of the thread.....but know some pictures are being posted that ARE getting this Thread back on track.
There are enough information specific areas for us to visit on Forum already!!
General discussion is a great place to just ask questions or have light hearted camping or building discussions!!
I Love the Forum and all those that participate.

Now, talk about theme, design and color, Brian, where are those Miss Piggy pictures? You're being modest!

BTW - I'm not going anywhere ... probably not considered an ol'timer, but I feel like I belong here. Actually it is up to us to keep this the "feeling" that we want in the forum. Each and every one of us adds to the flavor of what we have here by our posts. If there's too much salt, quit adding salt. There are enough here for us to drown out any errant flavor that gets brought in if we don't encourage unwanted behavior by reacting to it and thus encouraging more. Methinks I'm gonna try a dash of cinnamon...

Now to get back on track...

I'm seriously considering a steam-punk theme for my build ... should it ever actually happen (severe lack of $$$). Knife switches, fabric covered wiring, exposed conduit, oiled wood, aged leather, polished copper/brass/zinc, hand blown glass, canvas, Victorian lace, etc. Behind it I envision computer controlled LED lighting and entertainment system (via raspberry pi), solar panel, modern running gear and hitch, 120v/12v/5v(usb), etc. All the inner workings out there for all to see, but not quite what it initially looks like. It's one way of making something completely modern (even futuristic), but keeping a classic feel to it. If I could build to the picture in my mind it would be one impressive trailer ... currently I'm dreaming and bending wire to try to come up with cages for some unique RGB LED light fixtures.
