Buy my Cubby and finish it to your liking.
I’m a bit obsessive-compulsive, so what I expected would be a 6 to 9 month project has now passed two years. In that time, I’ve gotten into other hobbies and lost interest in completing my teardrop. The project is at least 80% complete.
This smaller Cubby is built on the ubiquitous Harbor Freight 1175 lb. trailer.
* The A-frame tongue is reinforced with two welded steel brackets. I planned to mount a Coleman steel cooler there.
* The coupler is ready for an extended tongue modification. I have a piece of square tube steel that will extend the tongue to whatever length suits your tow vehicle. The tube will extend back under the trailer and be bolted and/or welded to the cross beams for additional rigidity and support.
*The floor and frame were sealed with liquid asphalt and insulated with pink foam sheet.
* The interior cabinet frames and doors are made from ¾” birch ply, stained and varnished.
*The lower galley cabinet frame is also made of birch ply, with cherry colored doors from IKEA. The countertop is real butcher block ready to be refinished.
* The interior walls are ¼” laminated birch. The entire interior is trimmed with pine molding stained a dark mahogany color.
* Improved “hurricane” hinge.
*The walls are sandwich construction with foam board insulation.
* Outer skin is 1/8” luan ply sealed with a 50/50 mix of polyurethane and mineral spirits. It’s waiting for your choice of exterior finish.
* Trailer frame painted with Rustoleum aluminum color and two full coats of clear coat.
*FanTastic, 3 speed reversible fan.
*two aircraft style reading lamps. I have two extra.
* A “Blue Sea” fuse block with lines for the porch lights, reading lights, galley, fan, entertainment unit and spare.
*Pre-fabricated doors with anodized aluminum frame, sliding widows, screens, tinted glass and lock.
* Coffee colored carpet ready for installation. The shoe molding is cut, stained and ready for installation with the carpet.
*Vintage tag lamp and radio antenna.
*two drop-down rear stabilizers.
*Chrome colored exterior porch lights with switches inside the cabin.
*Each frame spar is made from laminated southern yellow pine.
There’s so much more I could tell you about it. Come see it.
