Nice work Bob.

Regarding the boiling of greywater.. If all the water boils off, are you going to have a flamable residue? Don't want you torching it with the fresnel lens. :R

Since grey water can have its own "odeur",
wouldn't 'boiling' that for evaporation just make it
worse ? - more concentrated and heated, thus increasing
the "odeur" ? You might have nuisance complaints
if that is the case. I wouldn't want to be around
it myself for that reason. The closed distilling method
would seem to limit that and even recover usable
water. Then boil that, or while distillation is in progress,
and use that to generate some electricity you could store
in batteries or such.
If you have a house - you have a hobby.

By adding a vent tube any disagreable odors would now be vented to roof height much the same as your standard home plumbing vent stack is done. The mineral and solid residue should be suffeciently sanitized to eliminate problems with them. In this drawing the dome has a vent installed and the dropletts that form on the oversized dome would drip into the outer pan and the distilled water could be used for any planting bed without worry about contaminates.

Not really a Monday update.......

Well the weekend came and went and never even opened the door to the caboose.

I was busy playing with the big screen projection TV's. I gathered two more on Saturday making a total of 4. So Saturday was a rip and tear day demo'ing the tv's for the lenses and other good parts. Wound up with two 12 volt pancake fans a quart jar full of wood screws and assother fastners and clips, Several lengths of ell shaped metal corner reinforcement angle. 4 mirrors ( one was the mylar on fiberboard ) One cabinet that will make beautiful shelves out of the outer cabinet, and a nice bunch of speakers that definatly will get installed in the roof of the caboose.

I took the fresnel lenses out to evaluate and have one spot and one linier and the other two I could not hold flat enough to determine what they were. My trash guy will be real glad to see my trash today as the plastic portions are all cut in sticks and tossed in for collection today. The wood cabinets cut into stove sized chunks and were used to heat this weekend as they went into the wood stove through out the day Sunday. ( Waste not want not ) . I am going to frame the 2 real nice glass mirrors and use them as cabinet doors for in the wall storage cabinets in the caboose.

I have 4 very nice pieces of plexiglas that will get used somewhere some day

All in all it was 4 -5 hours of demolition fun and I am looking forward to some experimintation with my new toys.

Well, that's working on things for the caboose. I would think that counts.

Remember these.....

Image

I salvaged 6 or so of these drawers. Nothing fancy but servicable. Well at 3 AM , unable to sleep (due to more BS news from the bank on the big house) I decided to build a coffee table.

Well it about 18 x 36 with the narrower of these drawers in each end as pull outs. Since I had a great castor wheeled base left over from one of the scrapped out projection televisions I decided it would make a great roll around base. I will actually BUY  A 4x8 sheet of plybead plywood for the box's finished sides and am going to cover the plywood top with felt and make a collage of build and camping pictures under one of the plexaglas lense protectors from the television scrap. Waste not want not !

I promise I will get some shots tonight after I get it a little further along. I have a matching tiny drawer just right for a couple remotes and other small items. This little drawer can and will pass over top of one of the end drawers and slip in and out one of the longer sides. Essentially giving drawers on both ends and one side. Stealth storage and a place to eat in front of the TV and put my feet up also.

I know you'll post pics when it's done. Meanwhile, I hope you can get enough of your trailer done and get the okay to move onto your land (or somebody's land) before the bank gets too pushy at the "big house".

Thanks Sharon :

Have a good friend who has a small mobile home court so if push comes to shove I have my behind covered

As promised here are the bones of the roll around multi storage coffee table !

Please remember there is not one penny spent on this project at this point ! Even the screws were extracted from the wood cabineted projection televisions I scrapped out. The white pine one bys are scrap from work and the caster base is off of one of the TV's. The little metal "ell" you see in one of the pics originally held in the reflective mirror on one of the TV's and is about to support the little stealth drawer on the side.

I know it looks kinda crude at this point but the ply bead sides and a nice top will dress it up real sweet.

I think it will offer lots of nice storage and serve me well.

Did someone mention ventilation well here is my hair ball idea.

Here is my hvac recycle system. I am going to attempt to describe what I am planning but it may prove hard to follow. An outside vent (10 x 10 or so) is cut into the front and rear wall a damper door is added to open and close the vent on the inside. a 12 x 12 square box is constructed between the plywood roof trusses making it about 22" long. Centered in the middle of this box is a auto radiator cooling fan. By placing the fan in the center I now have positive and negative pressure. At one end of the caboose the fan is oriented outward while the matching fan in the other end of the caboose is oriented inward.

Here is where I am gonna lose ya.....

There will be 3 or 4 floor vents and 3 or 4 ceiling vents of 2 - 2 1/2" pvc on each side of the tiny house. The trunk line that feeds these floor and ceiling ducts will be valved so they can either be positive or negative pressure depending on which valve is open on which side. By opening and closing the valves correctly you can recycle the hot air up and redirect it down to even out the heat in winter. Conversely you can pull the cool air off of the floor and redirect it upward to recycle the cool air. On moderate days you can open the end wall dampers and pull air in one box and by opening all the positive pressure valves you can have all 12 to 16 ducts bring in fresh air and powering up the fan on the other end and opening the outside vent damper and opening the valving on the negative side you can exhaust this same cool air drawn thru for flow thru in and out ventilation. I have the 12 volt radiator fans and have also picked up a couple O2Kool fans that are 12 volt but draw far less current and are smaller with lower cfm capabilities. I am somewhat concerned that running 2 radiator fans long term may stretch the limits of the solar on board system.

Here is my real crude drawing in paint the red is the ceiling vents while the blue are the floor vents. Only one of the 2 valves will be open creating positive or negative pressure at that line. This vent system should also make it possible to vent out offensive bathroom and kitchen cooking odors as well as mixing and recycling the stratafied air layers.
