Your towing with a small car, brakes on that car are minimal and designed for that car, not that car plus a trailer, better to wait a month then be tangled up in a wreck. And even if no wreck, the accelerated wear on the cars brakes is a sure thing, a brake job these days costs far more then the upgrade to an axel with brakes.
On my cross country loaded to the hilt, got into a panic braking stop on a cold rainy night due to a mOOSE THAT WANTED A CLOSER LOOK AT OUR HEADLIGHTS.
Was traveling a little too fast and locked up the brakes. With trailer brakes, I stopped, stayed straight and under controll, I know due to the distance to the moose that without trailer brakes....

Moose burgers anyone?
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

$750.00 and they will not build it out of lighter weight metal. the shop owner was almost rude but.................one of the guys there said he would talk to me later. I patiently waited for his call He told me to get the harbor freight with the 5 lug axle and he would be able to retro fit brakes later he has done it to that trailer. We talked about it and since I am building with being able to take off the shell later. I do want brakes but there are a lot of reasons I cant do it now. I have to keep it simple and get it where I can use it ASAP.. I will either retrofit or look for a trailer in the future that has brakes(pop up) I just need to take my time. For now it is going to be light weight. Incidentally, I did my last brake job.
Thanks for the feedback.

Sometimes it seems like one doesn't have the time or money to do it right the first time. Yet, one always has the time and money to do it right the second time.

Why do it twice?

Just a thought or two.

I never give money to rude people, it just encourages them.

I don't hesitate to give rude folks (and their bosses if needed) some "well deserved feedback". I also will track down a boss and ensure they get some well deserved positive feedback. It's typically about 50/50.

Cheers,

Gus

OK, I bought the HF trailer and a friend called and has an axle. I will take the axle and my brother will do the rest. when I get to Texas. For right now I will give my self plenty of room to stop and will drive very cautiously. I have a money and time problem, I don't have much of either. My daughter in law has cancer and is going to Houston Texas the first of May.I will be going out there too a little later. I have to save every penny so I can to make the trip. I will be in Ft Worth in June and back to Houston for a while then who knows? any way I couldn't find what I wanted for the money I had, but I WILL put brakes on before my Big Out West Trip. I will need the brakes then up and down those mountains.
