Called 84 lumber back they have 1/2 marine ply for 60 bucks. I planned on framing and insulating it soo save me alittle bit but should weigh alot less and still be strong.

How much did they want for 1/4 or 5 mm or 1/8?

If you are doing outer AL skin, ply, wall frame with foam glued in, and inner skin, just how thick do you need that outer ply skin to be?

There is off road and then there is hardcore OFFROAD. If you plan on dragging your TD on its side through the rocks, then, okay, I can see 1/4 or 1/2 inch outer, but really? If you are just going to rub a bush here or there maybe you don't need to go so think.

Just food for thought. My memory is not so good, and sorry, I didn't go back through your whole thread to check... but at least I have read and enjoyed it along the way  .

Awesome build! I like the off-road look but dont have a need! Nice piece of work on the frame build-up too. We'll keep an eye on this build for sure... -Brad

That reminds me of my tacking my 2000 Tracker and my Toroweep TD to Toroweep last year.

I first took my pickup to Toroweep in 2002 and when I built my TD in 2007 I built it with that road in mind. Feb last year I finally got to take it to Toroweep. The road had gotten worse in the 10 years between trips. Wind and water erosion has removed a lot of soil from the road exposing more rocks. I talked to some other people and they agreed that it had gotten worse over the time they have been going there. One said there use to be someone that pulled a normal camper trailer in there with a corvette. That would not happen today. My TD is not built for the really rough going like yours is. I call it a rough road able and occasion off road.

This is great work, you are going to end up with a really nice rig. It's going to be awesome for your kids, same reason I'm building my trailer.

I'm glad you skipped the baltic birch. I'm a cabinet maker by trade, and for the extra $60 you probably spent for the marine ply, you will be happy in 3 years when the whole thing isn't delaminating. The cheap stuff from HD will sometimes delam when it is going through the table saw.

True BB is usually decent for interior work, but what they are selling these days as "Baltic Birch" is really Chinese, that stuff falls apart if you look at it sideways.

Alright cut the profiles out and sanded them together to match. Mocked of the driver side

Got the passenger side door cut out and had my 3 yr old help hold up the roof spar for me

And the rear with my little helper.

Nice seeing actually looking like something!! Think my next step is im going to do a laminate floor its cheaper than lineoleum and will look nicer. Found a cabinet wood place that sells nice wood cheaper than HD. Soo i need to start figuring out the cabinet layout. Thinking about skinning the galley area walls to look nice with some kind of 1/8th ply? Dont mind the generic benroy plans minus the swing open lower cabinets. Might be a little bit before next update need to start figuring what kind of interior look I want.
