has any one put Led light on other then brake lights

Postby Ron Dickey » Sun Feb 24, 2013 8:19 pm

I was in an Auto store and they offered several fancy LED's for dash and under cars etc.

Have you done anything in your trailer for inside lighting or fancy outside lights so you could find your trailer in the dark

There are many different once offered now and it looks like fun

The fans that I got from radio shack that I put in my roof vent have blue LEDs and my wife liked so much that when I was in the auto part store and found a blue LED I put it in the porch light. I have also put clear ones in all of the interior fixtures. The wife is happy I'm happy

Yes, inside the teardrop there is blue "mood" lighting. Beneath the teardrop is red lighting as well as in the galley. The red below the teardrop is for show. The red in the galley lets you see at night without attracting bugs. All are LEDs.

All of the lights in and on Compass Rose are LED including the "porch"/door lights which had to be converted from conventional RV type. The housing are amber colored "bug" lights and I went with an amber colored array. MM #1 had blue puck lights and I found they attracted bugs/mosquitoes more and they also disturb sleep cycle. Early attempts also used a more daylight balanced/blue color LED, bad idea if you are trying to get ready to sleep.
We had to cover up the blue back light on our clock radio or it caused Nancy problems sleeping. This is a fairly well documented problem and as I understand it blue light suppresses melatonin.
A fairly good article http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/05/healt ... d=all&_r=0

Check out Zach's X-II Convertible. He's a traveling light show, and very well done.

You mean like this? All LED lighting, not much draw when using battery power. Makes it really easy to find in a dark campground.

I have a few LED's on the inside...

They also happen to light up the outside too! They can change color, fade, flash, strobe.

I did all LEDs these much less electricity. The battery lasts forever.

I used nothing but LED lights on the "Little Tow".
I have:
* teardrop shaped stop/tail/turn lights
* amber markers on both sides at the front
* red markers on both sides at the rear
* dome-light type floods just inside of each door
* A spot-type reading light mounted to the front wall right between our heads when we lay down
* I'm planning to put in a light under the rear hatch for night-time cooking
* Also thinking about a porch-type light on the outside near the door

* I added a top center multi-function light on the roof at the rear of the tear, just above the hatch.
This unit has a group of LEDs in the middle that go on with the brakes, and then a smaller group on each side that flash with the blinkers. . . . .

The tail lights on the "Little Tow" are down so low that I was a little concerned about visibility. The third light at top center really helps!

Since we now have a bed cover on our truck, led lights were installed on each side of the bed that come on when the lid is lifted. Big help at night.

Here's our take on the subject It's an RGB LED "Halo Dome" light, remote controlled. We mill them from solid hardwood. The ones shown are from African Mahogany. 8)
