Custom Wallpaper & Fabric

Postby PubUltraStar » Tue Feb 26, 2013 11:29 am

I've seen some interesting designs, and great fabric finds for many of the builds here. I have started working on the logo for my teardrop, and thought about how I could incorporate that into the design. I'm still debating on how to decorate the interior as well, and found a site called spoonflower.com. The allow you to create custom fabric of your own design for use in pillow cases, sheets, curtains, etc. They also let you create your own wallpaper designs. Although a bit pricey, there isn't that much real estate in a tear where this would be overly expensive to get the custom look.

My wife has used that site several times. She does graphic design and likes to sew, so she works her designs into whatever it is she wants to make. She likes it and she's pretty picky about fabric quality and all that, so I'd definitely recommend it if you're thinking of going that route.

I must say I'm impressed with the way the fabric turned out. The printing was exactly the way I submitted the image. I was going for a cartoonish rendering of Coleman lanterns and it turned out spectacular. Yeah it's a bit pricey at $18.00 yrd, but where else can you find such a design. The shipping was fast as well it took fives days to print and ship and just a few days to arrive. The best thing is that this design in my account so If I need more I just place an order for what I need.

That's really cool. Thank you for posting an example. I'm now debating whether to use a custom wallpaper on the inside of my tear, versus the original wood to help keep weight down. Knowing that I can get custom wallpaper and matching linens has pushed me more towards using the custom print route. My wife does a lot of sewing for quilts, etc, and think that this would make a great gift for some of her projects, even though it is expensive.

I got some of Starleen2's fabric. The best part? Two of those lanterns are from photos of mine, how could I not put it in my teardrop (that hasn't been born yet)?
