Wow, that was really something. Thanks for sharing. I would have been shaking like a leaf, knowing that any one of those larger gorillas could do me some real damage (maybe the babies, too) had they decided they didn't like something about me.

The only critters I've ever encountered while in camp were three raccoons one early morning. This was before we started bringing the dogs with us.

No large "wild" animal is to be considered "friendly". Chimpanzees are notorious for their attacks and mutilations.

Better "safe than sorry".

Those teeth were enough to get my attention.

Cheers,

Gus

That was something! I'm not so sure I would be as calm. Totally non threatening but a bit eerie. :frightened: I wouldn't trust bears to act this way, that's for sure.

I guess cats aren't the only "curious" critters.

He had great presence of mind to stay so still
and calm.

I thought it interesting that it was the little ones
who were doing the investigating and what looked like
trying to groom him some.

I had some trouble getting grizz's link to work. If it doesn't try this...

wow

I would of soiled my undies.

The guy setting down did well, putting his head down and not trying to make eye contact, or taking photos.
Just showing his teeth in a smile could have been mistaken as hostile act.
