Making what on a small gas grill.

Postby Shadow Catcher » Sat Mar 02, 2013 5:15 pm

Nancy and I were discussing our trip to Lake Superior Provincial Park this summer and eats. Nine days worth of grub. Nancy is reluctant to do bacon in the galley and I suggested we might be able to do it on the gas grill, but I am not exactly sure how, any suggestions?

I use a Coleman propane stove to cook on the campground picnic table. I never cook in the galley because I don't want to clean up the mess. I know that Coleman makes a gas stove/grill that has a single burner stove on one side and a gas grill on the other side. That might be an option for you.

We buy pre-cooked bacon when camping. Just warm it up and no cooking splatter.

I have that grill-stove and love it. I picked up the optional griddle for it specifically for bacon and pancakes. I also use the stove on the picnic table or a side table so I can use the full countertop in the galley for prep.

This is the grill, it fits in the tongue box and with the 8' hose from the gas pint in the side of the trailer it allows us a good bit of freedom. I also use it at home, good size for just the two of us.

Looking for information elsewhere there are a couple of options, tin foil and just on the grate. I do not know how this will work out as the grate is very close to the flame spreader and flare ups may be a problem. I will try it at home first.

I've never had much luck trying to cook bacon on the grill. The flareups always seem to burn it to a crisp. We've made some good bacon in the DO though...

I second the frying pan idea. You can also get a griddle and put it on the stove. Shouldn't be any different than cooking it at home.
