A brand new TD made in Australia

Postby Kody » Tue Mar 05, 2013 6:21 am

Hi fellas
Check out the photo gallery and the entire web site about this new Australian made TD. The photos are amazing as they show what punishment this TD is being handed out. The log bridges are very scary and the water crossings are something else. There is no way I would subject my TD to this kind of work. The trailer frame is very interesting to see but the TD dose rock badly in the videos. What do you think of it? I think it is very expensive, $53600 AUD (?). The unit is packed out with stuff but I much prefer the standard style of Galley for convenience. I have no idea where all the outside awnings are stored and for an overnite stop when you are tired, the last thing you want is to erect awnings all over the place. I want to be able to walk back to the door of the TD, climb in and crash out. Anyway, have a go at this.

A lot of these set ups look like they are designed for supported expeditions. When you get to your destination, your guides (Crocodile Dundee types, I'm sure) are setting up camp!
:)
I do like the way this thing is carefully and ingeniously thought out, with a place for everything.
Ditto on not excited about setting up a bazillion awnings. That's why I don't enjoy tent camping anymore.

After I checked out all the photos, I googled the place where had been. The "road" they were on where they crossed over the log bridges was the road to Elliot Beach. This is located in the far north of Queensland, not far from the extreme tip of Australia. The area is crawling with crocs and fishing is done looking over your shoulder all the time. It is a place to visit only if you have at least two other vehicles with you and all the vehicles are fitted with full recovery gear. In many of the photos the other vehicles can be seen in the background. The area is one of the most beautiful places to visit but never in the wet season, you can be stuck there for three to six months. I have crossed over a creek that had a log bridge not far from here where we live. It is not a nice experience to put it mildly.
