Paris is great. And the French drive on the wrong side of the road

Are you on holiday, working, backpacking?

How do you plan on traveling? Car, bike, bicycle, on foot, public transport, taxi?

Europe is small enough and if you got a Schengen Visa it opens the whole of Europe to you.

By high speed train, London is 2hr 16 minutes away so you could pop over for lunch and be back in Parris on the Champs Ellysees for dinner in a bistro.

There are no border controls so drive or take a train to Amsterdam, Brussels or the South of France.

If you're going to Brussels, take the short train ride to Brugge.

Renting bikes and leisurely touring the countryside is a great way to experience Europe. The area outside of Amsterdam and Loire Valley, France are some nice rides.

Switzerland is stunning. We like to hike in the lower Alps in the Gimmewald/Murren area.

A Eurail pass is handy - there are many types and options - but it's cheaper to purchase second class tickets while you're there. The German rail website is very easy to use to plan your train trips for train travel in all European countries.

City wise, Paris and Prague are lovely places to visit

Here in the UK, there are cities/countryside and castles! This is Bamburgh castle, about 20mile from me



or 5mile up the road Lindisfarne (Holy Island)



or 3 mile away Dunstanburgh Castle (Meant to be the original Camelot)

There will be a group of us, mostly children so I'd like to find something that would Blow their Minds, as for them this will be a once in a lifetime trip, probably looking at spending a month their, my interests are far and wide, but this will be a family vacation ......I tottaly love the idea of castles though

Mostly children..... 3 year old twins, a 5 year old and 7 year old brother.

Here are a few, but the problem comes with a cultural cross over, and you have kids in three distinct age groups, teens and young, off to bed by 8pm or thereabouts ?
Then you and the 21 year old....

Then there is a lot to be done, just in the open..... walks, museums, gardens, parks.

Use the Metro to get around, it is safe and clean.

As mentioned, do not miss out on cheap rail travel, and the chance to say you went to Belgium, Holland, Germany and other countries all at once on one holiday.

Make it an adventure, travel with nothing but your return flights cast in stone.

Thanks for the links I'll definitely check into those. The kids are bilingual(french Grand parents) so they can translate everything for us, I do like the idea of possibly hitting a few other countries that could be nice, after there we are going to be going to Iceland for two weeks then back home.....my build is never going to get done at this rate

Yes you did...We are going to be getting married still not sure of what date but I can share on here when I find out, lately I have been doing a big thing on ancestry, hence the wanting to go to Europe and do some tracing of my and hers lineage, thought that it would be a great learning experience for the kids, to know where they came from....We have been reunited after 12 years of separation ( I had moved away) been searching on and off over the years and finally found each other, the only good thing about facebook.....I guess I'm learning a lesson from Slow Cowboy....if you want something bad enough never give up even when times are tough cause one day your world may just turn around on you..... I have gotten the ring designed by my jeweler and still looking at diamonds (that's the hard part)but everything is coming together, some times your piece of the puzzle may not fit and you have to see if it fits in a totally different picture.......

I'm thinking that would be a rather large package to take on an airplane, but I do like the idea of some sort of camping even if I have to lie in the dirt, maybe it will be some sort of castle dirt so that would be acceptable

We went to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. While planning the trip, I can upon a place that rented small camper vans. Like the old VW bus ones, I think they were called Westphalia (SP) or something like that. Not a bad way to see the country.
