Does anyone know if there is a manufacture currently building crankout windows..........double or triple?

Chris, Those are what I wanted, and I checked with quite a number of sources. Most said I should check with mobile home parts dealers. I did, and everyone said that they were no longer manufactured. I found one dealer who had two old ones, but they were different sizes. I gave up and orderd the one-pane crankouts from Lil Bear (15" x 30" size) for my side windows.

Still made but basically only available in Florida and California and other places you never need turn on the heat.

What you need to search for is jalousie windows.

Here's a couple of Manufacturers I found:

Yale Ogron {PDF}
International Window
Sturdi-Built
Tafco

Most of these people are making windows for walls so they are a bit thick but maybe something could be adapted. The jambs on the vinyl windows would be especially easy to cut down. The mullions on the Yale windows show only 1 7/8" thickness required though the window would stick out from the wall.

I spent quite a while looking for them myself and could not find new ones. I started hunting through the junkyards for old trailers or campers and finally stumbled across one that had 3 good windows. There are still sources for the weatherstripping and mechanisms to refurbish the windows.

It's still a lot easier to order single-pane crank out windows from Grant.

I too have looked for some hope of finding a source for Jalousie Windows =:(


Joanne here is a definition that could be added to your list.

Jalousie Windows: A window that opens up by cranking the bottom section out to about a 45 degree angle, allowing ventilation while protecting from light rain. Most RV windows slide up and down or side to side, which could allow rain to get into the RV.

And I'm happy that I did. The inside of the frame is flush with my 1 1/8" thick wall. I only have to add molding around the frame. The only modification that I want to do is paint the outside raw aluminum frame white to match my door.

For adequate ventilation, I ruled out any window that didn't COMPLETELY open to let air in. When I couldn't find the jalousie type, I went to Grant.

No, Steve, but thanks. I'm really needing the windows I showed in my first post on the subject. I'm looking for a period look for a woodie. Don't want anything that looks modern.

Dear Chris,

A few months (maybe ago I spoke with Grant about getting just the hardware and mechanisms for the jalousie/awning windows. Grant checked with his manufacturers/resources and called me back with an incredibly low price for great hardware. You might want to contact him about the same issue. He is very accommodating and resourceful.

I write this since I am assuming that you may consider making your own frames, and installing safety/double pane glass in them.

Chris, I don't think it being Australian is a problem. What with the exchange rate it could work out being quite economical, if you can wait for them to be delivered. If you like I can check prices etc. for you.

I was down there last weekend. They have tons of the at kind of window. Find 2 the same is the only problem.

I decided on these. $50 for the pair.


They are 14 X 21. They even where a left & a right & had screens.
