Newbie from Illinois

Hello everyone. I have been lurking for a while and showing photos to my better half. I think I finally have her talked into us doing a build. Not exactly the 40' Class C motorhome, but much more practical for our use.

I expect we will be picking your brains when we start our build.

Hi Craig & Teri,
Welcome to the group, I'm another new guy from central Illinois. I bought my first teardrop 10 weeks ago. My wife and I have camped in it already, I think we're hooked. We are slowly learning what will work for us. We are having to relearn the K.I.S.S. philosophy. Where are you located?

Hi Craig, welcome aboard. I am a Rockford, IL transplant, so also wonder where you are located. You mentioned that you plan on doing a build, so all you have to do is decide on what size, what material, what bells and whistles, and how soon you are going to get the trailer frame. The trailer frame is the first step, and once it is at your place, there is no turning back. We are all here to help and many of us were first-time builders, once upon a time as well. Ask questions, check out the Hall of Fame and get that one-of-a-kind camping unit started. Good luck

I will second Steve and say come to some of the gatherings, one of the best ways to to see what folks have done and get ideas. I am a big believer in, plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery and you learn from our mistakes.

Hi Bob,

We are north, almost at the Wisc. state line. Glad to hear the wife likes it. Mine is still a bit unsure regarding the size.

Just finalized to go to the 2013 gathering in Indiana this July. We got the last space in loop A. Figure that way we can see all the different builds and options. Looking forward to it.

Welcome and Good Luck with your build!
If you build a traditional plan keep it simple, you will have it finished for July.
But you must decide on what you want and need and get at it.
If your wife is uncertain about a teardrop then rent one and try it out.....And GO 5" WIDE! for her sake!
If you are unable to build before July....Rent a Little Guy and go to Indiana. You will be hooked before you leave!
Teardropping is a s much of a Social thing as it is a Camping thing!
