May and October is my favorite time. Because of work, I rarely get to go in May unless it's just a weekend, because we usually have a really hectic schedule. I also like to canoe/kayak and May is usually good because the rivers are up then. (But we are still way dry because of last years drought)

October is probably my favorite though. Normally we have warm days, but the breeze has a nip to it, and chilly nights so you can really appreciate the campfire. The air is crisp, the leaves are turning and the colors are beautiful. Maybe it's just me, but the food tastes better and the hot coffee is great! Whenever I go in the fall, I tend to camp in one of our conservation areas instead of a regular campground. Less amenities = less people. Sometimes it's just nice to get away from everything. Nature is good for the mind and soul.

While school is in session---no seriously, both Bob and I work in occupations surrounded by lots of people, all day long, every minute of the work day. In the spring and fall,(weekends) the Wisconsin state parks are a lot quieter, and the primitive campgrounds in the upper penn. of Michigan are all but deserted. Our schedules will be changing soon and we'll be able to take off in the middle of the week (during the summer), and avoid the crowds. We like to camp to enjoy the outdoors, nature, sweet blissful quiet.

Locally, it is fall and spring here in CenTex; even by late April and May the nights are getting too warm to be enjoyable sleeping weather.
For our annual camping/mountain biking trip "out West" (NM, CO, AZ, UT) the end of May usually works, but even then lower elevations are sometimes getting too warm.
Having a warm spell right now, with temps getting up to the mid 80s.

My favorite time of year would have to be fall . The fall colors , crisp fresh air , low humidity , no bugs & cool nights for a good nights sleep , & fewer people are all inviting to me . Getting up in the morning & feeling the chill makes the campfire very inviting . Add the smell of bacon , sausage & eggs along with fresh coffee brewing & it makes for a very enjoyable time .......

I camp almost all year except for maybe Jan - Feb. Getting a tear will really make it more comfortable and easier than tent camping. I Have done a 10 day camping trip the last week of June in the Big Horn mountains in Wyoming 19 of the last 21 years. I enjoy seeing hundreds of elk and dozens of moose each day during that time of the year. I also enjoy mid-September in Yellowstone for the beginning of the rut season for most of the big game animals. Also, usually less people then. I camp in the Black Hills as many weekends as I can from April - October. And I go to a lot of shooting competitions and will start pulling the tear when I have it.

My camping time is always after harvest. Usually means mid to late September is the beginning on my camping season. From early spring on the farm keeps me busy. I'd like to go in the spring or summer, but I have planting, cattle, haying, cattle, silage, cattle, harvesting, and cattle to take care of.

March, April and May is the Fall season here but April and May is the best as the weather is starting to stabilize. June, July and August is winter and is a great time to go south to the snow or north (if your from the south) to escape the cold. September and October is wonderful for tripping out into the Outback but by November, it's starting to heat up. You stay home throughout all summer, - December, January and February. January is the beginning of the wet season and February, well you don't even think about camping. I'm hoping I can get back to building next week as we dearly want to have the TD. ready for a trip south in winter to see the snow and especially take photos of Kody when she sees snow for the first time.
This year has been a complete disaster with the weather and the entire East coast from the top at Cape York down to Victoria (2000 miles and more) was pummeled by cyclonic rain and storms. I think it was displayed on your TV's showing the damage. Some of the inland towns up north are isolated from everything for up to six months and commonly for three months of the year. The only way in and out is by a chopper. This sorta slows down the urge to travel in and to the north but if the rain and storms pass south, it's best to stay home and wait for it to dry out. The very best time to travel is the last month of winter and the first two months of spring.

I like camping year round. My wife has no desire to deal with heat or cold. The best camping in this area is spring and fall. Mid June through early September can be very hot and humid. Winter winds can make the temp feel 10 to 20 degrees colder than the actual temp. You have to know what gear to use and how to handle adverse conditions to camp in those seasons. Our scouts have two favorite camps that get mentioned regularly. The first is the summer camp that we usually attend during the hottest part of the year. The second is the campout for the survival merit badge. It is usually held in January, no tents allowed. The boys build their own shelters. The lucky ones get snow.
