Finally got to work on the camper. Got lucky today and found a sink at our local surplus building supply store. The goal this weekend is to get the sides on and the hardboard on the roof. If everything goes well, maybe even get the hatch framed out.

It's been a little while since the last post. Had a pretty good day today getting some of the cabinet work done. Over the past week or so we have managed to get the hull liner in, the door made and the latch installed. also have the interior cabinet work about 80% complete and about 80% of the galley cabinet work done. We are starting to look at stain colors more now trying to come up with a good color combination. Any suggestions of colors to look at would be greatly appreciated. We are looking at a 2 color color scheme. (light body / dark trim or vice versa). We have looked at the Hall of Fame builds and see many that we like but are unsure of what color they are and manufacturer.

Its been tough trying to find time to work on the camper.I have been able to work on the galley and interior cabinets.


I have also been able to complete most of the wiring and the plumbing.


The hatch is about 90% done. I used the same tongue and groove knotty pine on the inside of the hatch as I used on the interior ceiling. I was a little concerned with the weight of the hatch so instead of using struts, I made adjustable pole supports. I'm going to use one of the supports as a paper towel holder.

I am down to a lot of little things before I finally get to skinning the roof and sealing the wood.

Nice design. I love the interior, the lighting, the beadboard. You are doing a fantastic job getting it together. Your galley is GORGEOUS!!!

We are 110v only also. Didn't wire for DC, but don't mind camping primitive if ac power isn't available. Different strokes for different folks.

That is one fine looking trailer! We are actually doing just the opposite on the one we are building as far as electical goes. My sister has a fairly tight budget on hers so she is going to wire plugs and such with AC and install a battery charger only rather than a converter and wire it to the battery so that when she is at a campground that has AC and she can plug in, have her outlets and her battery will stay charged. Other than that, she will just have lights. Most of the places she goes camping will have electrical hook ups though. She is an electrician by trade anyway so I told her she can deal with all that, I'm a plumber by trade and found that water and electricity don't mix.

Thanks for the kind words. They are great motivation. I was telling my Dad tonight about all of the positive comments that had been given on the build. He already had a good idea of the wealth of knowledge of the people on this site due to the fact that I am always telling him about how this person did this or this person did that. I must say though that I 've kinda hit that point where I would rather be camping than building.

Great looking build.Inspiration for me to start one.I think you made the right choice wiring for both by the way.If for no other reason than to make it make it more desirable for someone if you really do decide to build a second trailer and end up selling this one.

I'm with you on that one. I've been building for the better part of two years and I am really getting impatient for that first trip. Hang in there!! It looks like you're very close.

Haven't posted in a while but I have been able to do some small things on the build. Teresa and I had a difficult time trying to decide on a stain color. We looked through the Hall of Fame builds and saw many colors that we liked. Thanks to those who responded with the colors that they used for their builds. We finally decided to go with a mahogany gel stain. I have woodworked for many years and this is the first time I have ever used a gel stain. In the future, it will be the first option I look at. It covers great and you have good control over the coverage. We stained twice with the second coat really bringing out the the browns and the grain. Can't wait to start putting on the satin spar urethane.


I have also started fitting the vinyl roof. Looked at aluminum but was unable to find a supplier close enough to make it worthwhile to go and get. Talked with a couple of suppliers and they informed mne that they did not deliver because they had so much trouble with damage during the shipment. Started looking at the vinyl and found this at Rockford supply for around $7.00 a yard. It is used to make tractor trailer covers. As they say"virtually tearproof" and has a -30 degree cold crack temp. It is alos UV resistant. For the price and the fact that I can cover the entire top of the build (even across the galley hatch hinge) seemd like a good option.
