Thanks everyone for the kudos. I finished up the quilt today. What's hard to see is that it has a charcoal outer border 6". It is laying on a gray carpet so it doesn't show all that well. I wanted to use this fabric called "Comma" from Moda. It's a contemporary style quilt with nice bright colors. I am going to quilt it with a square spiral in each block, or a square in a square thing. Outer border gets a geometric square type treatment also. I still have a load of curtains to make. Doug

I am inspired! I am just starting to build a 2 person standy, and had a question on your wall construction. Is that one layer of 1/8 luan on the inside side walls? and are you planning on using the same on the outside?

Yes, it's cheap luan with a paint job on the interior, foam insulation...then the exterior gets the same 1/8", then a skin in .040 aluminum.

I sort of reached a milestone in this build tonight...got it all closed up, just waiting for the epoxy to cure, it'll be ready to trim up tomorrow. I also trimmed the wheel wells and got the exact profile I wanted for them. Tomorrow, I'll get the running light wiring run under the trailer and plumb the tank drain among other items. It has become very difficult to work on it due to it's height, so I'll pull the wheels and drop it down. I've got 8 casters (total of 2K weight capabilities) and the plan is to weld them to the bottom of the frame and pull the axle and springs to do the rest of the exterior work. Then it will fit out the door......I hope!

In the next couple of weeks I'll run down to town and pick up 42' of 103" wide .040 aluminum for all the exterior skin. Truck/trailer suppliers have it on a coil and I can get it in one piece and cut it as I need. It works out to be a better deal than buying single sheets. A lot less seams will be involved. I'll need to cut it up into pieces and pre-paint it prior to installation for the roof portion. The sides will be sprayed once installed.

I really want to get the paint work done before the bug hatch...but it's been an warm winter so I'm thinking, I'm going to miss my window of painting for the large stuff. The plan is 2 tone and 1 section of high polish formed aluminum from the old trailer for the window band.

While it may seem like there is no rhyme or reason to a lot of the structure on the walls, all the pieces either back up a joint, or are used to attach an exterior/interior piece on or in the case of the bed area, a stiffener so that I don't punch my feet through the 1/8" interior skin. Outside of the foam insulation and the structure, the total thickness of the wood material used on these walls will be less than 1/4" inside and exterior combined. It will get an exterior skin prior to the aluminum. The outer skin prior to the aluminum overlay will be sealed with epoxy. Doug
