Heh heh heh, welcome to my world! I'm kinda stuck there too. I finished the upper galley and now I'm doing the lower galley. I hope to get it done this weekend, even though it is a short one (3day) for me. Then on to wiring!

Bruce, I feel ya man! :NC

I never dreamed when I started, just how many little small problems that there would be to be solved. Yes, buying the Kuffel plans really helped, but it was definately the end all to the great teardrop building mystery. There are only so many instructions that one can put in print. The rest needs be learned by just wading in and figuring it all out.

For example, I saw on your build where you made the opening for your roof hatch right at 14". Mine is also 14" dead on because that's what the Kuffel plans call for. If I can't find a roof vent to fit right in, I know it's going to be a little extra work to make one fit, but darn, I thought that was the reason we spent the money to get plans from Kuffel.
I am NOT a complete idiot! Some of the pieces are missing.

Open up the hole to 14 1/8". Use a router and a pattern, or a belt sander, or something similar.

And here's another little "tip", if you are using a vent that has a fan or a light and needs wiring, make the size 14 1/4". Go ahead, ask me how I know!

I'm back.. I wrote a response about you guys must be aircraft engineers what with this concern about making the hole 14" because of the plans... then I didn't send it.....

I went to the aluminum frame topic and found out you do have aircraft backgrounds...!

So, I have a suspension problem towing at high speeds..... and, I'm thinking..... WINGS..!

I mean, how long will it be before we get cross-over.....? Teardrops with engines and propellors, steerable tailwheels, oxygen for high altitudes...

This is definitely going in a good direction....?<g>..

I feel your pain. I'm spending lots of time designing and building my galley. It is finally starting to come together.

I was weary of making a hole and the vent not fitting also. I bought my vent fan first, then did the blocking for it. It ended up being exactly 14X14! I can't speak for others since I only have experience with one, but the fan garnish on the Fantastic Fan is smaller than 14X14.

I would think that if you didn't have the vent when you framed your roof, making the hole 14 1/2" x 14 1/2" would work for any vent. It would be easier to add one or two 1/4" shims if the hole was too big, than cutting out 1/4" or 1/2".

I like your idea where you located the fuse panel. Uses up what would otherwise be essentialy wasted space and frees up cabint space. :applause:

Yes! I'm at a stage where I can relocate my fuse panel. I'm lookin into this approach considering my construction is slightly different. Great Idea.

Thanks everyone. I got off my duff and hit the garage again. Its nice to see I'm not the only one who thinks the galley is hard. Here's what I'm using for ventilation:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdet ... er=259-121

I'm going to mount two of them in the space where my fuse panel is. If that doesn't work, I'll be cutting in a vent (and enlarging my 14" opening). I'm also going to write a strong letter to the vent president and suggest that 14" vents be called 14.25"" vents.
