After Gremlin put the mattress in I laid down to get a feel for it all and it felt quite roomy, was rather surprised by that. now my galley with its hatch that is what feels cramped and its outside.

Becky yours looks great, stupid question are you planning cabinets inside?

Hi Forrest,

There are no stupid questions!! :) :)

On the inside of the main cabin I am thinking there will be only shelves, and the electrical race. I am planning a small shelf on the front wall over the head of the bed that will hold cell phones, keys, glasses and the like. Then on the bulkhead a larger shelf to throw our duffel bags on and the electrical race running underneath that. Now, bear in mind that I am flying totally by the seat of my pants here with nothing etched in stone and if what I perceive to be a better idea strikes me at any point in time, I could change my mind. I left enough solid wood in my sandwich walls to install cabinets if I decide to (I had originally planned to until I saw the openness and simplicity of the inside of Zach's X-II) and I'll be turning ideas over in my head while I'm installing my roof. But for now I'm just not seeing the necessity for cabinets.

In the galley I am planning a slide out shelf that will hold the cooler and a lower cabinet where I will store all my supplies in plastic storage containers. The battery will live in there also. There will be a shelf on the bulkhead over the counter for small things like spices and small canisters. I have done away with the idea of the installed sink, faucet, and drop in stove. We bought a nice Coleman 425C for cooking and will just use dishpans and a hose hooked up to the campground water supply for dishes. I'll also carry 3-5 gallons of water in jugs. I'm planning to build at least 1, or maybe 2, tables that will attach to the sides of the trailer for spreading out the galley operations.

More info than you asked for???

I'm striving to keep it simple so I can be camping in THIS lifetime.

The roof framing in the main cabin is done. I think I'm going to take tomorrow off from working on the teardrop and clean the house.

I'm exhausted, Paul, and sore from all that climbing in and out and up and down. I probably shouldn't admit this, but it took me 10 hours to get it done. That's probably a record for the most time taken. Cutting out the tack blocks for the curved areas really slowed me down.

My house is in serious need of attention, but you never know the call of the garage may be too much to resist.

SHE is MAKING A BREAK FOR IT ...... Someone hide the washbasin. Where is Chief? Looks great Becky and I know the feeling. I am sore too from a three mile walk with wife 4 kids and 3 dogs for the race for the cure and then to come home and out to the garage to put sink faucet and glass the hatch and tongue box seams. By end of summer camp ready for you sooner if u hire a maid

Progress looks awesome! Quality work takes time. None of us are as young as we used to be.

My grass is above knee high. You can clean house in August after I get home from Poet Creek.

Re: Lance and Becky's Sagwagon - First Road Trip

Postby Oldragbaggers » Sun May 13, 2012 4:48 pm

Lance took the Sagwagon out for a little spin around the neighborhood to see how she sits and pulls behind the Jeep. Watching her go down the street made it all seem so real. He said he could hardly tell there was anything back there. Looks good....no?

Becky,

I'm away from the forum for a couple of weeks and you and Lance have almost completed your teardrop. Congratulations on the Sagwagon's first trip! Your teardrop looks fantastic.

Take care,
Tom
