Next time you are in for service request that the wheels are put back on with a hand torque wrench only. If they wont do it maybe you are going to the wrong place. Wheels are one of the more important items to be torqued properly. Its the only way its done at our shop.

Good idea, any idea how much this adds to your annual AAA membership?

Maureenm wrote:Have you talked to AAA about +RV coverage? It doesn't add too much to ordinary plus coverage and your trailer is specifically covered. Some people are not aware that this is level of coverage you need to have your trailer attended to.
A fellow Teardropper told me about it and she works for AAA.
Hope this helps!

Just renewed our annual Membership, we have a Plus service (with extra towing, living in Montana) for $125. I'll have to go ask about what it would be to add RV.

some will squawk but I use anti seize on lug nuts and a torque wrench set initially at 70 FP and second round at 80 FP. As with any tightening you do it cross wise so that tensioning is even then check tension/torque at 100miles after initial. A torque wrench at HF is a very useful tool and current price is $25.
I learned early on with a VW Bug that an even tensioning is very important or you distorted the brake drum.

You know of course that torquing a bolt with anti seize on the threads is not accurate, right? It would also be nice if you would let everyone know when and where you will be traveling so we can be out of the way when a wheel flies off. Seriously though, putting anti seize on the threads is the dumbest thing that you could do. There is not a service manule any where that does not say "no oil on wheel threads". That is from 30 plus years as a mechanic.
