That's what I'm using...I'm glad to see that an experienced builder like him judged it sound. I had some second thoughts about it, since it was tagged as interior "cabinet grade" at the store; but presanded ACX really looked good to me... flat, smooth,no discernable defects (I bought it on sale too!). I had wondered if the glue would dissolve when soaked thru with 50/50 mix poly/mineral spirits, but my test pieces came out solid. Here in the interior of Texas, marine plywood is really never seen, so I bought the best I could for the money. The only decent plywood I've found in at the BORG or the blue version is some Arauco plywood
It now seems that I've been overly worried over the suitability of this plywood for exterior use for the last 6 months. I've been expecting ply separation at any time from glue failure when I coated with solvent based polyurethane. Not so much concern now! I've used phenolic carburetor spacers on my racecar, and they resist racing fuel with no problems, so I figure that the phenolic glue in the Arauco should be impervious to solvent (and hopefully, water). A polyurethane, then enamel coating over this plywood may turn out OK after all.Adhesive
All AraucoPly panels are laid up with phenolic WBP glue which is suitable for exterior use.
