Wheel size? & Glass fender question

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Postby john » Mon Aug 29, 2005 3:18 am

It's funny. I just loged on to ask if wax paper would work as a release agent seeing as how I'am familiar with it in model construction. So thanks RKH for that .02 cents. Also a big thanks to all else for all the info. I am off to Autozone in the morning.

thanks guys

I thought I would show the results of all of your input.

The problem:

The form with wax paper before glassing:

The aluminum form and wax paper removed from outside and inside of fender:

The bondo:

After wet sanding the primer: (I wish I could keep the shine)

The paint, which looks better than the photo suggests:

Thanks for the help guys. You made the difference between a job I would have had to tolerate and a job I can be proud of and I'm proud.
:)

P.S. This is what the board is for.

WOW! Your pix look great. But based on your comment about the last pictures, you have a way to go. Here is a link I found which might be helpful to you: http://case-mods.linear1.org/case-mod-1 ... se-part-1/

No you didn't mislead. You don't know me so you covered all the bases and I hit only those that I felt applied.

Infact, my next father/son project will be a boat. Inspiration....Doug Hodder. (nothing fancy, just a small electric kayak thingy)

The final step thanks to Chris C and his link.

I followed the instructions and sprayed 3 layers of clear coat, sanded with 2000 grit and finally buffed the remaining haze out.

Very little haze in the reflection. Pics:
