Hello!

Postby jeepjenny » Thu Aug 09, 2012 10:50 am

Okay, so yesterday I put down the deposit on my new woodie teardrop. I am beyond excited. Of course it won't be ready until October, but still plenty of weekend camping trips to take after that. I live in the Reno, NV area, so the mountains are just a hop, skip and a jump away. Then winter desert camping, woo hoo! I looked through the galley was was really happy to see some jeeps pulling teardrops. I am fed up with sleeping in a tent on the ground, but can't tow too much with my little gutless jeep (which I totally love). I had stopped to speak with a guy at the California coast a couple of weekends ago. He had his teardrop and I asked him how he liked it. I told him about the one I was getting and he told me not to get wood, so I was pretty happy to see all the pics of wooden teardrops. I will be posting pics when the construction starts. My trailer is 4 x 8, hickory exterior and a pretty basic galley. I have always been a primitive type of camper, so no bells and whistles for me. I just have to come up with a catchy name for it once it is done. Hoping to attend the Redwoods meeting next year. I also have a passion for world travel, so I won't be around for the big event at Shasta in May, hopefully I will be in Nepal at that time. I am so happy to have found this group!! :wine:

Ok the main question I have is Round or Square that will determine if you have a substandard Jeep.
Wood should be fine made mine out of wood and love it.
IRG is every 2 years so not until 2014 and I plan on being there.
Have fun and like Paul said we love pics.

Welcome, and sorry for the delay, just found your post!

Hi Jenny, have you thought about coming up to Unionville next weekend? You don't have to have a teardrop to attend. A great chance to meet some northern Nevada teardroppers. It will be the closest gathering to Reno for quite a while. We would love to have you come, even if only for the day. Check out the twain and tears thread under southwest. Are you buying your tear from Glen at Hickory Nut? He was out with us at Cabelas last month.

Jenny,
I understand how you feel. We bought, didn't build and don't regret it. We really enjoy our teardrop and when I see it everyday, it makes me smile. Hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoy ours.
Sandy
